Thank you Bard!!!

Really, you are blaming Bard? Not the pitcher who put gave up 3 in the 1st primarily because of a shitload of walks?

ya but bard has blown multiple wins this year...lester is our ace so one bad outing is nothing to get upset at him about

I fail to see how anything that didn't happen today excuses Lester from his performance today.

At least we didn't lay down and give up like we usually do

I don't know, I'd rather have given up 30 in the first inning so I would have stopped watching a few minutes in and saved some time instead of thinking that we had a chance.

It doesn't matter you still end up with the same result. Actually losing in a close game hurts more.

Just looking for a silver lining and trying that optimism thing some people like. At least Gonzo is a beast

He was a beast at the plate tonight but he cost the team a run with his defense in the first.

It's worth the shot, but there really isn't a silver lining. You can only be optimistic when there's something to be optimistic about. ;)

Fine this team blows and will never get to .500, they have no good complete players and their pitchers are generally awful especially the bullpen, we also choke in any and every clutch situation. Oh yeah we will probably get sweept by the Yankees.

Is this better?

Yep, sounds like something I'd say. At this point you'd either be right, or pleasantly surprised. That's the benefit of being a pessimist. ;)

I don't think you get what optimism is. You're doing the opposite.

Italstal said there was nothing to be optimisti about so I decided to be a pessimist. I'm much better at being a pessimist anyway

For the love of Christ, the Sox have an awesome off season picking up 2 BIG players, and they seriously can't even get to .500? We have a chance to actually get there against a far inferior team in the Jays and we choke?? f*** man.

Certainly, the great bulk of the accountability rests with Lester. He had a terrible first inning. After that he battled. Bauitista is hurting pitchers all around the league. He's a beast. Bard let some green kid hitting .111 hit a bomb. Bard should have abused that kid. Bard has come up small too often at this juncture of the season. He certainly shares the blame for this game, and he did so after the team had battled back. Tito went too Bard because he is one of the big guns, and again he came up small. I'm gaining more confidence in Albers as the season goes on.

I was on my phone during my first response, so I didn't look it up to verify this. Now that I can look it up, this actually isn't even true. He sucked on opening day. Since then, he's given up a run in 0-0 game on a BB/SB/Sac Bunt/Squeeze, he's given up a unearned run in a 4-4 game, and the HR last night. That's 2 ER in 18 innings. I'm sorry (no I'm not), but expecting anything more than that is just unrealistic.

2 ER in his 18 IP since opening day. TWO.

A guy ran into a FB last night. That's baseball.

Unfortunately, he let this guy run into a fastball when the game was on the line and he had no margin for error. He didn't get it done. He's 0-3 in the early season and he cost us last night's game even though he didn't get the L. He's not getting it done. You can call it be unlucky if you want, but I don't buy that.
