I doubt Crawford will have better years than he had last year ' date=' witch f***ing sucks as he got paid due to the year he had last year[/quote']

He's been a really high WAR guy for years. Double digit home runs, elite defense, tons of XBH, those aren't new. Its not like he's being paid off of the success of one year.

He'll turn it around eventually. It's just hard to do when you swing at a lot of first pitches.

so he has been performing at a 850 OPS clip all of his career ?

I highly Doubt he touches 19 HR again

When signing a player, GM's generally don't expect that player to match or exceed career bests. He's hit 15, 15, 18, and 19 HRs in his 4 best seasons, so I see 15-20 being very possible. Its doubtful he does it this year since he's having trouble adjusting, but I don't think its completely out of the question.

Everyone is arguing about Crawford and Buchholz has walked his 5th batter with no one out in the 6th inning. His pitch count will be over 100 soon and we'll need 3 or 4 bullpen innings.

Buchholz fastball had more movement today, but he couldnt locate it well. He also couldnt throw his curve for strikes. He was an inch away from being down 2 right now. He was living on the edge all game.

If you think the stat geek crew employed by the Sox didn't analyze Crawford in every way possible before making their recommendation to Theo headed into free agency, you're out of touch with the way this organization operates.

Bill James and Co. basically operate as insurance actuaries for the Sox. They take every available statistic, compute it all together, and predict with reasonable accuracy how well a particular player will perform in a given period of time, along with the overall risk that player presents to the franchise. I have no doubt they spent just as much time, if not more, in evaluating Crawford than they did with every other signing in the Theo era.

Crawford will end up doing fine. I highly doubt he ends up as being worth $20+ mil per yr, but he'll be fine in LF

Buch was disappointing once again. If the starting pitching doesn't perform' date=' it is not going to matter what Crawford does.[/quote']

Yep. Looked like he was throwing it much better early but dropped off the cliff late with his location.

It could have been much, much worse. That 1st inning looked disasterous.
