Transactions ,Injuries,Rumors etc....

Josh Hamilton was pulled from Tuesday's game with a right shoulder strain.

Hamilton suffered the injury on an unsuccessful slide into home plate in the top of the first inning. He belted an RBI triple just before that in his only at-bat of the game. The Rangers will likely list him as day-to-day.

Nationals placed 3B Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with an abdominal strain.

Zimmerman suffered the injury in spring training and then aggravated it this weekend when he slid into second base. He's expected to return right around the date that he's eligible and should get back to his hot-hitting ways quite easily. Zim will leave behind a shiny .357/.486/.536 slash line, one homer and four RBI.

According to the Boston Herald (http://bit.ly/iaITe8) Johnny Damon had this to say about why he would wear the Sox cap should he make it to the Hall of Fame:

“(Ending the curse) was big,” Damon said. “I loved every minute of my time in Boston, but how things went down at the end definitely left sour feelings, and that’s why I can’t really embrace that.”

Now, help me if my memory is failing me. Did he not leave Boston for more money from the Yankees? And more specifically, didn't he take the Yankee offer without allowing the Sox a chance to match it?

I guess the question is does he have amnesia or do I?

I'll leave the comments about his odds at the HOF to others.

The sox didnt put their best foot forward at all. The Yankees shrewdly negotiated to get him. If the sox actually put a fair market value on him, they wouldnt have had a problem with the Yanks. If someone offered you $12 million extra over 4 yrs, I think you'd take it as well.

Active in the good way or the bad way?

That's assuming, as most everyone does, that they fall out of contention. The O's are loaded with players in the final year of their contract, as Vladimir Guerrero, Derrek Lee, J.J. Hardy, Luke Scott, Koji Uehara, Mike Gonzalez and possibly Jeremy Guthrie, who has one more year of arbitration eligibility, could conceivably be elsewhere next season.

One scout that recently saw Kevin Millwood told ESPN's Jayson Stark that the veteran looked "terrible."

"He looks terrible," the scout said. "Here's a guy who used to throw 94-95 [mph]. Now he's throwing 86." Millwood has been pitching in extended spring training in order to get his arm back in shape, so perhaps it will just take him a little more time. But, reportedly the main reason the Cardinals chose to pass on him after the Adam Wainwright injury was because they were worried about the lack of pep on his fastball. Millwood can opt out of his deal if he's not up by May 1, and it

Mets manager Sandy Alderson said Monday that David Wright underwent an MRI which revealed a stress fracture in his lower back.

The injury is the result of a diving tag of Carlos Lee at third base back on April 19. Wright won't go on the disabled list until he receives a second opinion and even if the initial diagnosis is confirmed, he would not be sidelined for a significant period of time. Alderson said treatment would be non-surgical and that he would need to rest for 10 days before returning to baseball activities. Daniel Murphy, Justin Turner and Willie Harris figure to play regularly in the Mets' infield for now.

Josh Hamilton (fractured right humerus) went 0-for-3 with a walk Thursday in a rehab game at Double-A.

Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer on Wednesday night and has been cleared to move along to Triple-A Round Rock this weekend. The hard-hitting outfielder is aiming to return to the majors on Monday.

Diamondbacks released 1B Russell Branyan.

He was cleared to make room for Saturday's starter Micah Owings on the active roster. Branyan began the year in a timeshare with Juan Miranda at first base, but he has only logged 16 at-bats this month. The veteran slugger will surely draw interest from other teams.

Matt Garza has been scratched from Sunday's start against the Red Sox due to elbow tightness.

Garza is going to see a team physician when the Cubs gets back to Chicago on Monday morning. An MRI is possible, although initial reports indicate that the injury isn't too serious and that Garza won't miss more than one start. Jeff Samardzija or James Russell could take the Fenway Park
