That's an arbitrary measure that does not address the true merits of him leading off. I would contend that the Sox were a very good team in 2008 with him leading off. They lost in the ALCS primarily because Beckett got hurt and couldn't pitch well that postseason.

 

However, I agree, and have stated so since the offseason. Ellsbury should not leadoff until he proves he's worthy to do so in the regular season. He slipped a bit in 2009, then was hurt in 2010, so the spot shouldn't be his until he earns it.

 

I agree with you but in 2008 he was doing well to push the ball to left field he is now hell bent on pulling the ball and rolls over to the 2nd or first basemen.
