Now in a flat footed tie with the sox and we're both 9 games ahead of Tampa and 11 games up on Anaheim for the WC. Playoffs are a formality for both teams, but I'd hope for the division.

Moma Joba: Has anyone seen my son?!?! I've been lookin' all over but I can't find 'em on the TV!

Nova has now been blown up by the Royals twice. What I dont get is that Girardi saw he didnt have it, the Yanks gave him a lead again, only to see Nova almost give it away. Didnt make sense. Good to see Mo back to his old ways the last 2 nights. And the offense has been very solid against nubile pitching.

Last night would have been the first legitimate reason Girardi would have had to play a game under protest and he chose not to protest. What an idiot. He protests lineup mistakes and not informing the umpires a pitcher was hurt before bringing in a reliever but he doesn't do squat about a double that was ruled a home run.

A.J. got pulled in the 2nd inning and apparently had some words for Girardi. I tried reading his lips. I think he said: "what no 7-run rule? You suck!"

He said that call or that pitch was ********. then girardi yelled at the ump.

Right said Fred should return in a few days from his finger injury. We have a double header coming up, meaning that Burnett gets one more start regardless, but he is obviously the odd man out

I'm pretty sure he doesn't care because he was making a joke.

If he was going to be the odd man out he would start one of the doubleheader games, instead of the Friday game. I'll never believe that they're actually going to pull Burnett from the rotation until they actually do it.

Well, Nova has been money of late. As has Hughes. Colon has been floundering a bit but he is better than Burnett and Freddy has been solid all yr. Burnett is the obvious choice.

That being said, Nova has looked very solid since coming back from the minors, and the main reason is the development of his slider. He used to have a loopy slider in the minors that wasnt terribly useful. He was good enough to get by on his big curve, good change and hard FB. But after coming to the bigs, he didnt have a put away pitch. Now, that slider is something the hitters need to keep an eye out for and he is using it in strikeout situations. He'll always be more of a contact pitcher due to his heavy 2 seamer and his good location, but the slidepiece has given him a strikeout pitch he can use when in a jam.

I completely agree that AJ is the obvious (and correct) choice to be the odd man out ... I just don't think the Yankees will do it. As for Nova, I agree, the slider has been the difference maker.

I wouldn't be so sure, AJ could certainly lose this spot if he doesn't improve in the near future.

"There are no locks," Girardi said Sunday of Burnett. "You've got to pitch. You've got to perform. It's been a game that's based on performance. You've got to perform."

General manager Brian Cashman was a bit more blunt in his assessment: "We have six guys who can pitch in a pennant race, period. A.J Burnett is having his typical terrible August. For whatever reason, he can't pitch in August, I don't know why. It is what it is. August is obviously not an effective month for him."

@michaelianblack: Even pinstripes aren't slimming on Bartolo Colon #yankees

:lol::lol::lol:

When he was with the White Sox, I found out that black was also not slimming on him.
