Becketts looking unhittable tonight' date=' work the counts and get into that bullpen guys[/quote']

... yeah. I hate to be right, but come on he's looking really good right now.

I think Jeter's clock has run out. He has lost it. His tank is empty.

I agree, if this keeps up I think you might have to bench him for a bit to wake him up a bit.

There is nothing to wake up. Long tried to shorten his swing and he abandoned it after 3 games. If he isnt willing to tweak in response to father time, then he's done. Get his meaningless 3,000th hit then quietly move him to the bench

Never gonna happen. What's more realistic is, if he keeps struggling, hopefully they drop him in the order.

For the next 3 seasons at $15+ million a year? That would not be a quiet demotion.

Terrible decision. More good fortune.

EDIT: Although that's going off the idea that he was pitching around him to begin with, and the first two balls were a result of that. Putting him on after being behind 2-0 was the right call.

I was impressed again by CC's resilience last night. He threw maybe one good slider, his change wasnt diving and he couldnt locate his fastball, but still managed to hold the sox to 1 run. Hughes needs to learn from CC a bit. If you dont have your best stuff, you can still avoid getting buttraped on national TV.

But what can you say about last night. Beckett was vintage. He had every one of his pitches working. Shows he still has it. I think Mussina said it best, "As a starter, 25% of your starts, everything is working, 25% of your starts, nothing is working, and you make your hay on the 50% inbetween." Beckett last night was in the 25% where everything was working and CC was in the other 25%. Se be it. I'd rather not waste a vintage CC performance on a night where we werent gonna score anyway.

The bats were finally silenced into a day off, a much needed day off. Tex and Co. need to get their s*** together for the O's, who are suddenly rejuvenated.

The pitch selection is just brutal. They've become obsessed with the change-up, but that's only part of the problem. AJ might not get through five tonight.

For some reason the O's outfielders continue to play in the gaps, and it has helped a bit so far. Good scouting I guess. But also a good start for the Yanks.

I was gamecasting. AJ struggled, but it sounds like he made his pitches when he needed to. Why the hell did Girardi try to get him through 7? He started the inning over 100 pitches, we had a 7 run lead and it's f***ing April.

He was at like 95 pitches.

Jacko has a point though. One of the big reasons AJ got through six was luck. The O's swung at a lot of hittable pitches, and just missed them. He was flirting with disaster all night. I'm perfectly fine with keeping him in after the double, and maybe even after Wieter's home run. But after he walks Andino, with the lineup turning over, and the O's only down five, he has to go to Robertson against Roberts and shut that inning down.

One of the main issues with Girardi is that he waits for trouble to start before countering instead of trying to prevent the trouble before it starts. He opts for mitigation instead of prevention. It should be the other way around.
