Phil Hughes' cutter is so bad.

EDIT: And that's how he tries to finish Lee. Lol. He threw a few pitches a little faster than he had in the two prior starts, but he still looks terrible ... although I suspect others will be more optimistic, simply based on the results and the slight improvement in velocity.

No improvement from Phil Hughes means it's AAA time. Gotta let him work out his problems in a place where he's not killing the big league team every five games.

On the bright side' date=' at least Colon knows he gets to pitch half a game every five days.[/quote']

Haha yeah. Time to let him just start the games instead.

AJ has looked pretty good. He did something vs the o's that he didn't do last yr. He battled without his best stuff and location. And if not for poor timing from our skipper, he may have gotten thru it without allowing a run

You can put the Roberts' HR on Girardi, but not the Wieters' one. Neither you, me, or any other manager in baseball would have pulled him before that. There was no reason to.

I can tell you what, though y228. I am encouraged by Sabathia obviously, but very encouraged by Burnett. I think Nova is right where I expected, being inconsistent. I do expect him to be a 4.50ERA guy by yrs end, though. I havent seen Garcia and am completely distraught about Hughes. He's not big league material right now. He needs to finish in AAA and get the seasoning he obviously needed when he was rushed through the system. This is why I hope Banuelos and Betances dont get moved too quick. We should look at Hughes and Joba as reasons to let them season

I need to see more of Burnett before I can share your feelings. He was really good early last year also, better than he is so far this year.

But overall, I agree with your thoughts.

Hughes is put on the DL

"We just feel like he's going through a dead arm period," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "We don't feel that he's hurt."

Big time congrats to lance pendleton. He got called up to take hughes' spot on the roster. He will likely be the long man as Colon moves to the rotation. Pendleton worked his way up harder than anyone in the system. He's a good feel good story and I'm happy for him.

Pendleton is doing EXACTLY what Hughes should be doing. Nibbling on corners, no predictability, lots of movement. I think he's hit 90 twice. That is how you pitch. Too bad Nova got gunshy of the plate today. 5 walks, a HBP and 2 big wild pitches. The kid needs to get his head out of his ass and remember that he has elite stuff. He's gunshy

Martin at the dish with the game on the line. That early season luster is going away right now. Game over. Should have won today. 9 hits to Texas' 4 and we lose. 6 f***ing double plays. Nova not aggressive in the zone.

Nice play by A-Rod. I'm very interested in what the initial UZR stats will show, but so far A-Rod's range looks much better this year than it did last year.

Well so far I've been half right. No swings and misses, but thanks to some luck and well located pitches, Freddy has been good through the first four innings today.
