I'm thrilled to inform you all that I will be heading over to Florida in March to attend my first Spring Training game. I will be watching the Red Sox take on the Rays in Fort Myers and also will be watching the Red Sox vs. Phillies in Clearwater @ Phillies Park. This will be my first time seeing the Red Sox in general. (In July I will be seeing them for two games in Houston but still need to make it to Fenway!) Let's just say I am beyond excited but wonder if there is any advice that you guys would like to share if you have been down to Fort Myers before? I appreciate it.
Where will you be staying in Ft. Myers?

Where will you be staying in Ft. Myers?

We'll be staying in Clearwater as we really want to experience the beach there & other things near/in Tampa. However, we will be heading to Fort Myers early afternoon and spending the day there until the game at 7:05. Just not sure on things to do/see in the area that day. Also, any specific places that we should try for lunch?

I'm assuming Salty is going to catch on Sunday vs MIN' date=' so he's not going to be starting. Gonzo and Drew are going to slowly get eased into the games obviously. I am just curious as to where Crawford is? If Ells, Pedey, and Youk are all playing, why not Craw?[/quote']

Crawford has matters to be taken care of in Houston On Saturday so they decided to hold him off until Monday as is Drew.

I assume that Gonzo is still 1-2 weeks away. He just starting swinging this week. He will start soft tossing soon According to Hale.

Doubront has been also set down for 10-14 days with elbow tightness.

Also I have a question about MLB.tv. Will the games during Spring training games(Not shown live) be shown after they have been completed like a game that is blacked-out.

I'm not really sure but I'll find out for you.

Jobu needs a refill!

More seriously, I know it doesn't apply to the current situation, since that's not how Beckett was hurt this time, but I have no idea why the league hasn't gone ahead and forced pitchers to wear helmets yet. I can't think of any reason why a good sporting goods manufacturer couldn't figure out a way to design a grilled full helmet that could protect a pitcher while simultaneously affording them the full field of vision they needed to do their jobs, and that's assuming that you couldn't simply use a visor or even keep the face open and still protect the noggin.

I mean I know line-drive-to-the-face doesn't happen every day, but Murphy won't be mocked indefinitely and I think we all know that. So why are people digging in their heels?

Honestly, I think pitchers will more likely get hurt by heat exhaustion while wearing a helmet than getting hit by a grounder. And it really will get in the way of pitching.

If they were standing out there the whole 2+ hours I could see heat exhaustion, but they have plenty of opportunities throughout the game to cool off. No one would make them wear the helmet in the dugout after all.

Range of motion problems should be something you can head off with good design. For that matter a good helmet for a summer sport should be able to "breathe" anyway.

So Andrew Miller reportedly look great and his fastball is mid to upper 90s. Could be a nasty combo with Bard if he can regain his control. Miller is still only 25. I didn't know he was that young. Apparently got rush like Hansen.
