I was thinking about Gonzalez but I didn't want to blow pick #1 on an OF. Plenty more of them. That and his Coors/away from Coors splits aren't very good.

I was more worried about the strikeouts and a regression from last years breakout season. In other words, it's not like those are his career numbers. I think it was a risky pick, but I would have picked him if he was still available at my spot. I like the pick nonetheless, and for 400,000 and change, one could do a lot worse.

What happened to my s***?

You never confirmed that you were still interested in the draft. You had been online for a while and never made your pick despite multiple messages. We figured that you didn't want to participate so we didn't want to waste any more time waiting for you to make your pick. If you want a team I can add you to the end of the draft or fit you back into where you were, in which case it would be your pick.

I initially planned on taking a hitter with this pick, but with some of the recent selections off the board, the remaining hitters that are first round worthy make too much money.

Adam Wainwright, P (4.65 M)

Oh, I'm certain Cargo will regress to some degree next year. That said, he's also a 5-tool player. And I believe his home/away splits won't be so dramatic this season.

There are a couple of very good left fielders left, but they'll cost you an arm and a leg.

Anyway JBay can make his pick.

MLB is very pitcher-heavy right now. Great hitters are hard to come by in the post-steroid era.

This goes two ways though. With the voting based on a short series, I'm of the belief (as I'm sure others are) that pitching wins.

Nice pick. MLB may be pitcher-heavy, but true aces are few and far between. And Wainwright for under 5 million is a steal.

In addition to all of the above, you said that you weren't sure if you still wanted to do this, so Dipre and I spent days looking for other people to participate and take your spot in case you backed out, and I even harassed RSFFL to get him to do the redraft to make an even number of teams. You never responded to any of our concerns saying that you would in fact do this redraft.

So Dipre and I made you a spot just in case (again, with no confirmation from you) and we figured that if you wanted to be a part of the draft, you'd make your pick. You were online, you had to have seen the thread being active and you had to have known that today was the day that the draft "started" and your pick came up, we waited a few hours (all while you were online), you didn't pick, WhiskeyBreath and JE (the next 2 people in line) were online, so we figured that we'd let them pick so we wouldn't waste anymore time waiting for you if you weren't going to come and pick.

We went out of our way to make sure that you still had a shot at this. It's not like we randomly decided to screw you over without warning.

Thanks Keeper. I like your pick as well. CarGo is an excellent player, and will allow you to open up your wallet in the later rounds.

No love for Tulo?

He's arguably the best SS in the game right now, a true 5-tool player, and produced the 11th best WAR in the Major while playing only 122 games. His "Coors" split is almost non-discernible either, having bettered his previous mark for a 3rd year in a row, and posting a .863 away OPS with a BABIP within normal parameters.

I got love for Tulo. I just knew he would be gone by the time my pick came up and was sort of bummed about it. It was a wise pick. In your position, I would have grabbed him as well.

Hey man. I got no love for Gonzo either. Although first base has much more power options than SS does' date=' but maybe not at 4.75mm.[/quote']

Gonzo and Votto were the two first basemen I was hoping would somehow fall to me, if that makes you feel any better.

I don't think that anyone said anything bad about Tulowitzki. I think it's way too early to start comparing picks and getting offended and unnecessarilly defending yourself.

So I get no love for my pick? I see it's cause I'm black isn't?

Braun is a bargain with that salary. He's an elite offensive player and not as bad of a left fielder as he's made out to me. His range is pretty good and his arm is decent. The problem is his routes and reads.
