What if we set a time' date=' like midseason or so, where people can enter a silent bid for players using money available? It might be unfair to spring this now, but I like the idea (maybe we could do this in the future)?[/quote']

This is a great idea IMO

Technically, couldn't the person "receiving" the bid just outbid the person by a couple bucks or something? I just don't think that it's really fair. The only reason that one should change players is because of an injury, which is reasonably out of their control, rather than dropping an egg by making a bad choice. Besides, I don't want to go through the effort of tracking the remaining transactions, even doing power rankings each month would be enough of a pain in the ass. I don't even care that much anymore.

I think it would be silly to completely ignore the wealth of undrafted players who will break out

I think sometime in May we should have an auction of some type to try to acquire players, at the expense of your salary cap

Posted
Well, a silent auction would fix the problem. And I'd be willing to do it sometime, my only concern is that it's a little unfair to people that had already been getting high-salary players and not anticipating this kind of situation.

I think that all teams should be responsible of keeping a running tally on their players stats starting in May - and to update it every two weeks or so

Which stats do we post? We should have an apples to apples comparison. I structured my team to platoon at a few positions, so I believe that I should post the applicable righty/lefty splits.

For hitters I was thinking RUNS HR RBI XBH AVG SB

For starting pitchers W-L QS (quality starts) ERA WHIP K

For relievers W-L ERA WHIP Saves Holds K/9

I mean these are just some options

Offensive stats, I would propose:

Runs HR RBI OBP OPS

I would also propose Lefty/Righty splits if the owner is going to run a platoon at a position.

I figured we should post whatever stats we'd find relevant to their usage. I think that we are basically using whatever stats we can to make an argument as to why we have a top team. A700 makes a really good point that if we plan on using a player as a platoon, then you'd really only need to post the platoon splits in which you plan on using them for.

With the exception of Lewis, my rotation was beastly this month.

Jon Lester: 3-1, 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 5 QS

Dan Haren: 4-1, 1.23 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 6 QS, 1 CG SHO

Brett Anderson: 2-2, 2.95 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 4 QS, 1 CG

Colby Lewis: 2-3, 5.70 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 2 QS

Jhoulys Chacin: 3-2, 2.91 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 3 QS, 1 CG SHO

My bullpen had mixed results.

Chris Sale and Kenley Jansen have been bad. Even so, Jansen's K/9 was 14.9 and Sale's was 10.1. Takashi Saito got hurt. Jeremy Affeldt has been so-so. Ernesto Frieri, David Robertson, and Heath Bell have all been excellent.

My 1st month pitching was absolute s*** other than Cahill, wow I fail

King Felix W-L 3-2 ERA 3.32 K 35 Walks 12 WHIP 1.20

Gallardo W-L 2-1 ERA 5.70 K 23 Walks 13 WHIP 1.57

Carpenter W-L 0-2 ERA 3.89 K 29 Walks 10 WHIP 1.22

Cahill W-L 4-0 ERA 1.88 K 33 Walks 12 WHIP 1.12

Cueto DL all season

My lineup has blowed cock too other than Ethier, Young, Polanco, and Castro too

Not really sure what to think of my team right now. Guys like Prince, Mcgehee, Granderson, and I guess Bruce all doing pretty well, then I have guys like Dunn, Hanley, Hill and Adam Jones all doing horrible. My offense has been inconsistent, while my starting pitchers all have been at the very least decent, they all have very respectable ERAs.

I guess my bullpen has been very good as well, the exceptions being Burnett and Ohman and I like how my bench is doing. Byrd has been hitting well, Andruw Jones has been a nice surprise and Pierzynski has been doing solid.

So basically my pitching has been pretty good while my offense has been okay I guess. I think my offense will definitely Improve though, I dont see Hanley Hitting .200 all season or Dunn hitting like .190.

Anyway, YRTB, I wouldnt be worried at all about those pitchers.

I will post my stats tonight. Should that be done in the "Clubhouse Thread"? At first look, my offense looks like it kicked ass. My starting pitching was led by Weaver who has been phenomenal, but the other guys haven't done too well.

I know that Carpenter and Felix are going to improve, but Gallardo had a high WHIP last year as well, which worries me, and if having an injured pitcher is never a good thing

Jaime Garcia 3-0 2.48 ERA 1.12 WHIP

Ricky Nolasco 3-0 3.35 ERA 1.06 WHIP

Clayton Kershaw 2-3 3.52 ERA 1.25 WHIP

Daniel Hudson 2-4 5.30 ERA 1.36 WHIP

Tommy Hunter - Injured :(

Do I post bullpen too or what? I ony posted starting pitching because that's what everyone else did. Are we not going to post our offensive stats?

I think we should do a silent auction of some sort middle of May to pick up players who aren't drafted

Rather than screw over teams that used up all their cap, I think we should give money to everybody, but more or less depending on how much they have left (like $50 bidding for somebody with little money left and $100 to bid for somebody with a lot of cap left)

Another option is to do it like a waiver wire, where the person with most remaining cap has the #1 waiver and the person with least remaining will have the last waiver

I don't think that's a good idea. This was supposed to be entirely about the draft. Not a fantasy league with add/drops etc. I'm also way too lazy to keep track of any of it, let alone posting stats from my own team or running the power rankings. I just don't care anymore.

I think it's a fair idea especially for teams that have a fair amount of players who are on the DL or just flat out blow this year

I don't know, maybe we could take a vote on it

If you are losing interest, I would suggest two sets of power rankings-- one done at the All Star break and one at the concluision of the season.

I'm pretty sure the rule was if someone was injured you can drop that person and pick someone up if you pay a portion of the injured players salary(not sure how much).

I totally disagree with dropping players that suck. This isn't fantasy baseball.

Pretty much. We're talking about season ending or very serious injuries only though, and it'd have to be with permission to add/drop.
