I understand drafting swingmen or potential swingmen but using starters as relievers? Brett Cecil and Ian Kennedy as relief pitchers makes no sense to me.

Forsyth had made up all of his picks, so I don't think we could/should skip him. Granted, he hasn't been online all day, and I doubt that these picks matter as much with 1-2 rounds left, but I'd hesitate to skip him unless he says so, and in order for him to tell us that it's ok to skip him, he'd have to come back online anyway.

Besides, RSFFL (and others, hint hint) can send me their picks to make tomorrow, since Forsyth is usually on in the morning. I have Keeper and Will's picks at that point, and I can probably get Dipre's pick pretty quickly.

I agree with you Keeper. I brought attention to this a while ago when Ytrb messaged me a planned pick which was an even more established starter as a long reliever. He ended up taking Brian Duensing for that role, which was somewhat of a moral victory for me. I won't name the starter he planned to take since he hasn't been drafted yet.

I also don't like that a bunch of teams took multiple clear closers for their bullpen, but that's another issue entirely. Some teams are treating this like a fantasy team rather than building a real team.

Who said I was planning to keep Cecil in the first place? He's a decent starting pitcher who should never have lasted this long. If he ends up sticking around as a long man/spare starter, terrific.

Either way, I don't see what the issue with making a spare starter a long man is. Their arms are at least used to pitching for longer periods of time. Most of the designated 'long men' in baseball blow ass anyway. And it's not like circumstances are ideal to begin with if you have to bring a long man into the game.

You'd still be much better off using a dominant middle reliever or setup man as the long man instead of a serviceable starter. Just one man's opinion.

I also think that there's a significant difference between using someone who has bounced back and forth between the rotation and bullpen and taking someone that's a clear starter. Sure, someone that takes a player that was a long reliever last year that ends up as a starter this year might be a little troublesome, but there was fair reason to believe that the person may have been a long reliever when they were drafted. Hisanori Takahashi and Brian Duensing come to mind here. Someone like Cecil is solely a starter, and should be used as a starter.

None of those are left, and I prefer to fill the closer/set-up/MR slots before cramping my brain over who's going to pitch mostly garbage innings.

Yep, I have Will's picks, I was out at lunch. Unfortunately, one of his picks was taken, he said that we can skip him if that is the case, so I'll make Will's one pick, skip his 2nd pick, skip Divinity's pick, skip Ytrb's pick, make your pick, make Dipre's pick, and make RSFFL's pick, and then it'll be Forsyth's turn.

That would make it RSFFL's turn. Unfortunately I only had his pick for the last round. I know what position he's going for, but I don't know his pick. Considering that I'm likely (or at least should be) the only one drafting from that position, I think that he'd be ok with us skipping him if need be. That would make it Forsyth's turn.

As far as makeup picks are concerned:

Will 1

Divinity 2

Ytrb 2

WhiskeyBreath 1

Flynnatic 1

and technically RSFFL may have one, or it's his turn, either way he can make his pick when he logs on.

As for the Pineiro = long reliever pick, I think it's slightly better than the Cecil and Kennedy selections since Pineiro actually was a long reliever back in 2006-2007 (his horrible numbers aside), however I think it rehashes the point that Keeper and I were trying to make.
