I like Josh Willingham as an option, as long as he doesn't cost much (via trade) and as long as he doesn't have to play too much, I think he'd be fine.

The Red Sox are interested in Magglio Ordonez, according to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com. The free agent outfielder bats right-handed, a plus for the Red Sox. GM Theo Epstein told reporters that he’s inclined to pursue a complementary right-handed hitter this offseason, and while Ordonez is no complementary player, he could be a fit for the Red Sox in left field.

 

Two months ago, Ordonez expressed optimism about re-signing in Detroit. The Tigers may add a corner outfielder and the Scott Boras client could be a fit in Jim Leyland's lineup once again. Before fracturing his right ankle last July, the 36-year-old batted .303/.378/.474 in 365 plate appearances.

Maggs would be my second choice. When healthy, he can hit.

Of the options, I like Beltran. I think he'll kill the ball when we play NYY at NYS. And he's a great all around player when healthy.

Of the options, I'd be the most excited about seeing Beltran in a Sox uniform, but depending on how much it costs and the likelihood of the team needs, I still see Willingham as being the best fit. I wouldn't mind seeing Beltran on the Sox for the near future if he can play anything like he did the past few years, especially since we'll be done with Cameron and Drew's contracts after next year.

If Ordonez wants a 2 year deal, I think the Sox should jump on it. He is .967 OPS career against lefties, and a .956 OPS vs. lefties over the past 3 years. He might not have the most power left in the tank, but he is a great all around hitter that can drive runners in, get on base, and keep the lineup moving.

For some reason I'm actually afraid of the market. I would go for him right now before someone crazy offers him a 200 million a year for 6-8 years.

As things are happening, the market that already makes no sense in terms of money will be even more senseless in the very near future.

With Kelly, Rizzo, and Fuentes gone, do we have the prospects to trade for Upton? I know that Arizona wants major league talent, so we'd probably have to give up Ellsbury, Bard and more.

Unless the players he DL'ed were on the opposing team. I bet Ellsbury is s******* himself with the idea of Beltre being next to him in the OF. He's probably asking the FO to trade him.

Absolutely do not put Beltre in the outfield. That's absurd. He's a phenomenal fielding 3B, moving him takes away a great deal of his value.

IF they brought back Beltre, he would be playing 3B. Youk would be the guy heading to LF. Beltre would be like Ray Lewis in the OF. He would jut crush anyone who got close to him. I'm fairly sure Ellsbury would request a trade as well

Agreed. If you have 2 3B, any 2 3B, on your team and one of them is Beltre, you find another position for the other one.

I think Beltran is the guy they should get. He's a switch hitter and fits perfectly as a part-time left fielder and DH. He could be full-time DH after next year. Makes $18 mil this year the Mets would love to unload. I could see the Mets picking up half that in a trade.

I like Beltran. But i'd say no to him unless the Mets pick up part of the tab.
