Interesting deal. This could either be nothing or fantastic, but there's little downside to the trade. Good move for Theo.

When I first read the title of the thread, I was like "crap, what did we give up", but considering that it was a nothing for nothing (with potential) trade, I'm ok with it. It's not enough to wake me up or anything, more of an "eh" kind of deal, but it has the potential to be something. Hopefully Miller can gain the potential that made him such an early draft pick.

I dig it.

:lol::lol:

An inconsequential move, at best.

Theo will bring a load of schlock pitchers to SP and one or two will stick when camp breaks. What else is new?

miller was a beast in college ' date='hopefully he can get his s*** straight[/quote']

His problem isnt stuff. His issue is command. If the sox think they can straighten him out, then they got a steal.

It's certainly not a big splash but I like Miller's potential more than Richardson's. I certainly don't expect much out of Miller but I'm more hopeful than I would be with Rich.

Richardson's upside was as a loogy. Miller's upside is as a dominant pitcher. The problem is' date=' Dusty was closer to his ceiling than Miller is or may ever be.[/quote']

And this is what I meant by saying "inconsequential."

This move will not likely mean anything in the long run.

This guy was the 6th overall pick in 2006 and was one of the best college pitchers in the country. He was the ace on the UNC team that included Daniel Bard, and Miller was far and away the better talent at the time.

Worst case scenario he remains mediocre; best case scenario they have a 26 year old who has the stuff to be an ace.

It is unlikely he amounts to much, but they didn't give up too much for him and he's SP depth.

Man, they are really pimping the Baseball America 2007 top prospects list lately. Hermida, Saltalamacchia, and now Miller. Who's next, Maybin?

Coco, don't forget to send your nba power rankings to ytrb by tonight.

To everyone else, sorry for interrupting the thread flow.

OK, but don't let it happen again.

The way the Marlins hold firesales, anything is possible.

Oh he still throws very hard. He has never learned how to harness it' date=' though.[/quote']

In these two starts, his max FB velocity was about 94. That's not 97, but it is throwing pretty hard for a lefty, definitely hard enough to get MLB hitters out if he can command the zone.

Any chance they could convert him to a RP role? What has he got to lose?

EDIT: Also, his FB average in 2009 and 2010 was 90.9, which isn't really elite. He can get to 94 but 90.9 average isn't very hard.

I think that's the plan to fix him into a bullpen arm.

The only thing is he has zero option left and if he stink it up he will have to be DFA (or as many teams does phantom DL) and no minor demotion.

We gave up Richardson who isn't much and went a month without an appearance up here before he was dragged into a blowout.

I wonder if the Marlins will be in trouble again with MLB about their low payroll. Loria is almost certainly the worst owner in the leagues and should be thrown out on his ear.

They just offer Uggla like 50 million or something and he didn't accept.
