This was amazing. 2009 was just flat out disappointing. But this yr was completely unexpected. I watched when they felled Kentucky back in Maui and thought they might be good. Then they faltered at the end of the yr and looked sick. Then looked ridiculous from the Big East Tourney through tonight. And they are so f***ing young. This is gonna be a good team next yr too. LOVE IT!!

In all fairness, while I think that we were better than Michigan State in 2009, I don't think that we'd have been able to beat the buzzsaw that was UNC in the title game. That said, 2006 was an abortion. We had the best team in basketball (arguably), but certainly the best team remaining in the tournament, and we lost to George Magon in Overtime. What makes it worse (to me) is that Florida won the title that year, and then repeated the next year. That title was Uconn's to lose, so much talent on that team, but this title makes up for it, and other than Kemba, Chukwumba Okwandu, and a couple of interchangeable token white seniors, the team is very young and should be good (although perhaps not title good) for another few years.

I think Kemba definitely leaves. He graduates in May, so there isnt anything left for him in college. Lamb will be the new leader of the pack.

Oh by far, and since we won the title considering how clutch he is (he's made more clutch shots than the Miami Heat have), I wouldn't be mad at him at all for leaving. I salute him and thank him for what he's done for the program. If only he can hook up some of his city friends with Uconn Basketball. I think we only have a 4 star PG coming next season.

Enjoy it Ital.

Yeah, after the Flyers lost in the Stanley Cup final, and the s***** day I've had, I wasn't going to tolerate my team losing that close to the championship again. It'd be about as bad as Aaron Boone in 2003.

Well, Shabazz really jumped out this tourney as a floor general and Oriakhi really stepped up as an inside presence. I think Lamb jumps up as a premier scorer next yr, but he'll need some scoring help. Hopefully Oriakhi can elevate his game next yr as a true dominant center and re-orient some of the scoring to the inside like they did in the past with Okafor, Thabeet, etc.

I see Oriakhi being more like Jeff Adrien just a bit smarter and perhaps a better free throw shooter. He and Jamaal McCombs are sophmores, and they'll be joined by Lamb, Smith, and Napier as freshmen, plus Boatwright coming in. They'll be in good shape. Probably not great or favorites, but you never know, it's definitely an exciting time to be a Uconn fan. Hopefully winning the title will help some top recruits commit to Uconn since we are well behind Kentucky in terms of NBA talent coming in. ;)

(There Suns, I threw you a bone)

By the way the Morris twins over at Kansas are gone

@JonRothstein: Kansas forwards Marcus and Markieff Morris are set to sign with an agent & will enter the 2011 NBA Draft

Suns, first off, one has to define good. Like will Uconn be a serious title contender next year? Probably not. But I don't think anyone considered Butler a title contender considering that they lost a star player in Gordon Hayward (who Bulter might have won the title if he stayed in school)

Uconn is losing Kemba Walker, and a bunch of filler. They have many freshmen and sophmore players that should get better, plus at least one good freshman prospect coming in. I mean will they be a title contender? Probably not, but it's not like they are going to be a bottom feeder in the Big East, and they have a great coach. I'm not going to say that Uconn will be better than Kentucky next season, but Uconn will be between decent and good.

Jeremy Lamb is going to be back next year. With a season of strength training, he's going to be a lethal player for Big East opponents. Walker's gone, but they retain most of their core, and should be a very good team in 2012.

I guess I can accept the fact of that. You never know in March Madness..
