Only games right now are part of Coaches vs. Cancer; everyone else starts on Friday.

Maryland just beat Charleston (underrated team actually, though Maryland played poorly) on a buzzer beater. Andrew Goudelock for Charleston was absolutely filthy though, hit 5 of 9 threes and 27 points. I'd keep an eye on him throughout the season, since Charleston is probably winning their conference and making the tourney.

No posts here makes me sad.

Pitt-Maryland was a mess of a game. Pitt kept trying to give it away but Maryland had trouble on the boards and was terrible at the line. I only caught some of the Texas-Illinois game but it was a good one, went into OT.

Yeah, Maryland was horrendous from the line, if they made their free throws, who knows what would of happened.

I'll be posting here this year. I'm going to Vegas in March = I need to pay attention to CBB. Right now' date=' I like UConn @ 75-1, those guys can score, but we'll see.[/quote']

I like the Uconn women's team to win too. ;)

I watched this one. Maryland was something like 15-30 from the line. Brutal. Looks like yall have a pretty good team though.

We've got Appalachian State tonight here. I kind of think we may lose this one. App State is pretty good, and we're without 2 of our 3 best players til January (Dee Bost, Renardo Sidney) and don't have much depth at all. We'll see.

I plan on posting in this thread a lot. No worries, Coco.

Well that should be a nice spring break for you. Jealous.

Lost again, this time 80-76 to Illinois. Would have been nice to win a game against a ranked team early on, but oh well. We have two home cupcakes coming up against Delaware State and Elon, then on the road against Penn State before Temple in the BB&T classic. Does anyone know how good Penn State is?

EDIT: And yes, almost all of my basketball posts will be about UMD.

Same here. I've been impressed so far this year, although they lost today I thought they played very well and if we made our free throws who knows what happens in the PITT game.

Geno Auriemma needs to get off his soapbox. I don't care about UConn's streak because women's basketball is boring and the competition is underwhelming, to say the least. I could find hundreds of high school boys teams that would mop the floor with UConn's team.

I've also never been a fan of college basketball. March Madness has its moments, but if people didn't fill out brackets and gamble, it would just be meh. The only thing I like about college basketball is the effort. Some NBA teams refuse to play defense, and there is a serious lack of intensity on that end of the floor. You generally don't see that in NCAA.

I think Auriemma has a point though. Sure, a lot of people don't care about the streak, but he makes a good point that if this were a men's team breaking a women's record, more people would care. In addition, the women's team has to prove themselves twice as hard as the men's teams because people dismiss their accomplishments because they're women. Granted, I am a big Uconn fan here, but when you sift through the anger and frustration, he's largely right. Uconn isn't getting the respect they deserve for what they are accomplishing. And they can continue the streak forever and they'll never get put in the same sentence as many inferior men's teams.

as if the ACC isn't having enough legitimacy issues, Duke getting absolutely undressed by a middle-pack Big East team - down 21 at half to Johnnies
