2010 ALCS: Yankees @ Rangers

Well, we werent good enough. Texas was better. I was expecting a slugfest, but instead our 200 million dollar team couldnt muster more than 5ER in 3 starts vs subpar pitchers. We pitched our second best pitcher once in the series (Pettitte) and allowed probably the coldest pitcher on the team to start a pivotal game 4 and then allow him pitch himself into a loss in the 6th inning. Our manager sucked. Our lineup sucked worse. And our rotation aside from Pettitte sucked the most. We werent good enough, that's the bottom line.

This will be like the 2007 NBA Finals between San Antonio and Cleveland where Stern did everything he could to get larger market teams into the finals. Not to mention how boring and short (and brilliant) the series was.

I will watch a Texas / SF series. I probably would have less interest in a NY / Philly series. But, that's just me. Probably has something to do with the fact that Philly, NYC, and the Jersey Shore form a Bermuda Triangle of douchbaggery that is not rivaled by any other geographical area in the country.

The Yankees got beat down by the Rangers, I was surprised how formidable their pitching was in such big games. I'll say, I expected more of a fight, but the Yankees didn't even deserve a game 5, for how badly they got beat by the Rangers, the 4-2 series win doesn't tell that.

Texas went out and won that series. Good for them. The Yankees had every reason to win, and TX had every reason to not make it through. Yet still, they stepped up in big moments, with phenomenal pitching, fortitude, clutch hitting, and poise under pressure. They reminded a big market team what it means to be a team and win, and how absolutely perfect that A-Rod struck out looking for the last out.

 

Congratulations Nolan Ryan, the TX pitching staff, the TX lineup, and the TX (real) fans, and Ron Washington (oh brother), in that order. It's a huge achievement to bring a World Series advancement to a franchise that's never been there. And to go through the Yankees to get there?
