It's not over until Hicks's ridiculous case is kicked out. He's trying to ruin the LFC board with his outlandish myopic claims.

And that Lim needs to shut up. He made an offer, it wasn't accepted, a contact was signed with NESV. We don't want limelight seekers like him anywhere near our club.

The judge said H&G have until 16:00 Friday to "comply with order", whatever that means. This isn't over, RBS will have to put us into administration to get rid of them.

High court says Texas ruling has no juristiction within the UK.

Hicks and gilette have been injuncted to reframe by the high court.

Technically if they do not withdraw their injunction from from the Dallas court then they can be arrested if they visit the uk.

High court rules that sale can go through.

John Henry in meeting now with Liverpool board.

Hicks and gilette now in court again in Dallas currently, so let's see what happens next.

Would love them to walk away with nothing but also be able to not visit the uk due to threat of arrest. Now that would be sweet.

If Hicks ignored the latest UK court ruling he will be in contempt of the High court and that carries a jail sentence. That being the case and the fact that there are extradition agreements in place between the UK and the US, the courts in the UK will have no choice but to issue an international arrest warrant and the US will have no choice but to arrest him and send him to the UK to appear in person before the High court judge who issues the warrant. Oh happy days, Tom. Don't f*** with the High court.

Liverpool Football Club have tonight issued a statement following today's court hearing in London:

The independent Directors of Liverpool Football Club are delighted with the verdict of Mr Justice Floyd in the High Court this afternoon which now requires Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett to withdraw their Texas restraining order by 4pm tomorrow.

We are glad to have taken another important step towards completing the sale process.

Hicks & the hobbit may be on the end of a libel lawsuit too. He's accused several English people of an "epic swindle" amongst other things. For the Americans here, UK libel law is very bad, it's quite a disgrace in all honesty (see chiropractors vs Simon Singh) and due for reform. That hasn't happened yet. Come on LFC board and RBS (UK Govt), hit them where it hurts! They're going to be in contempt of the highest court in the land tomorrow, and will probably be picking up soap bars at her majesty's pleasure if they enter the country. Although, rumblings say the hamster is still in England.

So getting back to the point how do Red Sox fans feel NESV have done as owners of your club?

P.S. Cricket is nowhere near Footall (Soccer) in terms of popularity and as for curling people only watch that when the winter Olympics comes around and that more for Scotish people than English

Whoever brought up the extradition agreement between Britain and the United States may wish to check and see if the extradition is automatic. THere's all sorts of clauses that people can use in an agreement like that to keep people out of the hands of another nation if they happen not to like its government, what I don't know is if there are any between the UK and the US. I imagine that the other government would at least have the right to negotiate a little if they felt a need. I have no idea if anyone in the US government particularly likes Hicks though, especially now that Obama is the President. W was connected to Hicks' ownership group of the Rangers but only loosely so I have no idea where Hicks stands in the Good Old Boy Network.

Fatso Hicks to declare bankruptcy? Default appears to be his middle name. Still, that old, that fat, he'll surely be dead soon. His ticker must be doing overtime.

NESV have done all that a fan can expect and more. They bucked a trend and saved a classic ballpark with ingenuity in terms of bringing it up to modern standard. They found baseball people to fill management positions at the club. They've brought in players and at the same time developed the farm system (Equivalent of LFC youth development structure, except the players involved are much older when they start in the Sox system.). They've expanded the fanbase nationally and internationally.

There have been increased ticket prices. But the sellouts continue. I don't think these would mirror what the Yankees have done at their new stadium or what the Glazers have done on a yearly basis at Old Trafford.

These guys are everything H&G weren't: professional sports businessmen with the acumen and the funds necessary to do the job for Liverpool Football Club.

They've done better than that, they've kept their mouths shut, the Liverpool way of old. There's been no pandering to the press (current idiots), there's no self-hype media exposure (Lim and all the other Asian "bids"), just plain ol' getting the job done attitude. Bloody marvelous!

The face and the focus of Liverpool will be where it belongs: on the pitch.

That is the way the work gets done in Boston. And it will be that way at Anfield again.

After Hicks and Gillett, you can understand the suspicion amongst some LFC fans. But I've maintained the key difference here is that you're getting an ownership group whose focus is sports management. They aren't buying Liverpool for the short-term, seeking to build or rebuild a ground for Liverpool, and then cutting out for a handsome profit. They are in the business for the long haul. Everything they will be doing after tomorrow will be done in the interest of transforming LFC into a Big Red Machine (borrowing the term from my Mother's beloved 70s-era Cincinnati Reds here) in the trophy room and in the business sense.

Agreed with that one. They have conducted themselves with honour and dignity. Thats the LFC way of old. I for one cant wait to welcome the new owners to our world famous club.

Respect earns respect where I come from and they are rapidly earning the Liverpool fans respect. YNWA.:D

Hello, Red Sox fans. From yet another LFC fan(and potential BRS fan) :D

I've been reading all of the posts in this thread and I hope the deal with NESV and Mr Henry goes through.

I will try to learn as much as I can about your Baseball club and mayne even buy off som stuff from your official store. Would be nice if we could start a "partnership" and go to Anfield and Fenway and vice versa. :)

Hope Mr Henry is interested in LFC's own good, more than his own personal economy.

Nervous hours ahead...

From Norway

Tom Hicks thrown in the towel? This statement from Hicks (in full):

LFC owners to pursue $1.6 billion from "epic swindle"

Hicks and Gillett withdraw TRO blocking sale of Liverpool Football Club. Action prevents RBS from needlessly putting Club into administration. RBS rejected owners' pledge to pay off all debts by October 15. Attorneys say ludicrous, self-serving and illegal behavior from directors and outsiders to hinder Club for years.

"It's an extraordinary swindle and it will result in exactly the wrong thing for the Club and the fans."

Those were the words used by attorneys representing Liverpool Football Club owners this morning when they announced they would apply all of their legal energies toward securing at least $1.6 billion in damages they expect will result from the proposed illegal sale of the Liverpool Football Club.

Attorneys also stated that protracted litigation concerning the Liverpool transaction will now cause even more uncertainty for the LFC.

"This outcome not only devalues the Club but it also will result in long-term uncertainty for the fans, players and everyone who loves this sport because all legal recourses will be pursued," said Steve Stodghill, the Texas attorney representing the Liverpool owners. "Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett pledged to pay the debt to RBS so that the Club could avoid administration that was threatened by RBS. That offer was rejected. It is a tragic development that others will claim as a victory. This means it won't be resolved the way it should be resolved. My clients worked tirelessly to resolve these issues but RBS would not listen to any reasonable solution and the Directors acted selfishly and illegally."

Stodghill said the owners have no choice but to pursue every legal avenue possible, and they will.

"Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett wanted to position this club for the future, but others have a different agenda," said Stodghill. "In truth, there is nothing positive from these events for Liverpool Football. That is exactly the opposite of what my clients wanted to achieve. "

What ? Near destroying a football club and getting rich of the back of that and misery you've but millions of people through ? Yeh, OK.

Just purchased the monthly subscription to LFC.tv online today. Watched Henry's interview and couldn't help but notice the contrast between it and the interview Hicks gave to Sky Sports earlier today.

Hicks: Self-serving, litany of excuses, wants all the credit and none of the blame. Attitude: What is in it for me?

Henry: Reserved, focused on delivering quality to fans, service-oriented. Attitude: What can I do for you?

Two men who didn't grow up all that far from each other (Hicks in Texas; Henry part-time in Arkansas). But they are worlds apart in approach. Hicks viewed Liverpool as a get-richer-quick scheme. He's upset because he ended up with a loss on an investment whose debt he intended to load partially onto Liverpool and partially onto a future owner of his preference.

Henry views Liverpool as a long-term investment. NESV took up the acquisition debt for LFC instead of loading the purchase price onto the club itself. That shows a commitment to truly building something solid and lasting. In that scenario, you are going to be more committed to getting things done on the stadium, on personnel development, in marketing the club, and on improving the matchday experience for the fans.

Hicks said something to the effect that there were far better owners for Liverpool than NESV. To the extent that this has always been about what was best for Hicks instead of what was right for LFC, he is right. Hicks probably had a better deal for him set up or close to completion. What was best for LFC never entered his equation at any time he operated the club.

Thank God someone was in charge who had as his mission finding owners who would fit the bill for what was best for both the club and its main creditor. In another time and place, H&G could've gotten away with this and put this club at the mercies of an asset-stripper while laughing all the way to the bank.

Welcome to the family, Liverpool fans. I think you are going to like the approach and the activity your new stewards will bring to your club.

I think Henry thought of this not only as a money making venture in soccer, but an untapped Red Sox fan base that is incredibly loyal. If the Liverpool club wins, then the sox are going to get a ton of overseas fans. Smart idea from Henry. He is quite a smart businessman
