  1. Personally I want them to redevelop Anfield, there's just too much history there, there's no reason why anfield cannot be extended across anfield road and the Main stand made larger, could easily get 60,000 with some inventive architecture. The kop has to be kept just the way it is. I'm not up for groundshare with Everton tho, I think Nesv should take some time to look into the 'football quarter' project proposed by both lfc/efc fan groups.
  2. I fully agree with you mate, sky and the Murdoch empire have taken so much away from our beloved sport and created this sham situation, but just like has happened in the bundesliga eventually it implodes and all that is left is what is great and good, and that's us, the fans. Just hope John henry follows thru on the fan ownership scheme, I've always enjoyed footy, but always remembered it's us that makes it what it is.
  3. Yeah it's a shame about city, when a club drops two divisions but can still get 30,000 at home, traditionally I've a lot of respect for them, but they've become a circus just like Chelsea, sad really. 6-0' wow I remember that, running onto the pitch ? those were the days, no doubt you could probably pay ?300 for a match day experience like that now, where they'll present you with some grass in a presentation box .
  4. I was in the anfiled road that night you beat us, was carnival time lol, me and my mate had a great time with the Celtic fans, once we were over the defeat. I can't hold defeat for long, my eyes have seen greatness and I truly believe all footy fans deserve it at some point, so I never get too down hearted in defeat. Fully agree with you on the sky generation, lets hope, Platinis plans around finance come to fruition, and once again may history, tradition and devoted fan base define greatness, and not this media crap ! Like chelsea cud fill fenway, yeah right, they can't even fill stamford bridge for a c/l game lol. It saddens me that some modern day fans don't reflect on history to define what are truly great and respectful clubs. Maybe I'm just an old f*cker
  5. Sorry to have offended, I thought 'other sports' was the place to discuss football (soccer) didn't realise it just meant American sports ? Thought this was a good place to swap comments around on a cultural basis between sports fans.
  6. Would be great to see Celtic v lfc at fenway. I feel an affinity to Celtic, even tho I'm a die hard red (and no it's not religious, I'm a Protestant )' I just remember the match in 89, the Celtic fans with their banner for hillsborough, we've had some great matches between us over the years, who could forget that great macmanaman goal or the 0-2 at anfield. Yeah I like Celtic. Strong Irish theme all-round if we met in boston, cos let's face it, Liverpool is the unofficial capital of Ireland we're not English we're Scouse !
  7. We dont get to see much televised MLB in the UK, i think we did a while ago, not seen any for ages. I think it was on pretty late too. However i'll attempt to start following the Red Sox now, even though ive not a clue around the rules, scoring etc... i'll have to do some googling and reading up, Im starting from a point of not having any understanding beyond seeing Homer and flanders at a game, and Homer had a Nacho Hat
  8. Yankees tied up with the 2nd most successful English club ever, well done, and they sold a few bits of merchandise on the back of it, however the sox via John henry were a bit more savvy than the Yankees in their pursuit of sporting excellence. The sox have teamed up with the most successfull English club ever. And in doing so will welcome in an energized, passionate band of brothers who are globally renowned to be some of the best fans around. I'm honoured as a sports fan to now be able to choose Sox as my baseball team of choice, hope you guys do the same for Liverpool. YNWA
  9. Wooohoooo !!! goodbye H&G Loved JH's answers, funny guy, and didnt make any BS statements like H&G did. Finally, after 3 years of hell, we are rid of the poison that was destroying our club Happy day, great day for fans, great day for sport.
  10. High court says Texas ruling has no juristiction within the UK. Hicks and gilette have been injuncted to reframe by the high court. Technically if they do not withdraw their injunction from from the Dallas court then they can be arrested if they visit the uk. High court rules that sale can go through. John Henry in meeting now with Liverpool board. Hicks and gilette now in court again in Dallas currently, so let's see what happens next. Would love them to walk away with nothing but also be able to not visit the uk due to threat of arrest. Now that would be sweet.
  11. We've all known for the best part of twenty years that lfc as a global brand has not been sweated which is why h&g wanted it in the first place. The club was commercially inept in the decades it should've been cashing in on it's global appeal. Fortunately after winning the c/l in 2005, this has once again highlighted to a new generation in the far east and asia what a massive successful club it is. With the current more effective commercial director (Ian ayre) in place we have started to realise this now. I think with nesv's expertise it can be taken to the next level. But actions will speak louder than words with lfc fans for the next 12 months.
  12. Given the new ruling from 2013 around only spending what you earn commercially, I'd rather have NESV than some bloke with a few restaurants. NESV will sweat the lfc brand, and seem to understand the philosophy of investing in the product to gain better revenue.
  13. I too follow Oranje, I'm English but a lot of lfc fans don't tend to follow the national England team, which is a long story. Was happy when Liverpool bought babel and kuyt, but babel hasn't quite worked out.
  14. Its been a manic 24 hrs for most LFC fans, I'm going to bed now, but just wanted to thank Dojii for his info, and to apologise for all those trolls that came on from our rival teams, I backed off from posting when all that started. Anyhow I've had a look around other threads and have a real fondness for your team now, your a passionate bunch, pretty much like lfc fans. Who knows I may even start to try to understand baseball, I understand cricket, which is the daftest sport on the planet btw. Looking forward to a long lasting relationship between our fans, and hopefully lfc may play a pre season tour in the US.
  15. He's a blue ! - bitter till the last
  16. Fairly accurate there Dojji, mainly famed for the Beatles, the football club, and their passionate fans (Scousers) who are proud of the boast they are "Scouse not English". Scouse as a dialect is predominently influenced by the Irish descendants from the Great Potato Famine. I have difficulty identifying a scouse accent from a northern Irish accent, very similar. Some of the most friendly and rooted folks you could meet, incredibly humorous too. There will no doubt, however, be some comments in here from opponent clubs fans attempting to de-rail a Red Sox / Liverpool friendship. Fortunately most people are better than that, and understand sport and passion.
