Not if MSU gets me first. Granted, I don't consider Virginia to be part of the real stereotypical South, but I'm not sure if that would exonerate me or only put me deeper in the hole with VA Sox fan.

Now you're going to get it from VA Sox Fan. Good luck with that.

Virginia is full of a bunch of transplanted northerners and watered down southerners. It's south lite. Go to Alabame, Louisiana, Mississippi or the panhandle of Florida. You need a frickin translator

If it is anything like what he did with the sox' date=' he'll put some money into it and get it back to respectability, but there will always be a major emphasis on value[/quote']

Speaking personally that's what I'd want from an owner. Tom Hicks, our current co-owner, was the man who was in charge of the Texas Rangers and single handedly ran them into the financial ground and, at this present time, is doing the same with Liverpool FC.

Could you explain the "emphasis on value" comment? I read that he Mr Henry increased ticket prices in Boston by quite a chunk, is that what you mean?

For those Red Sox fans who are a bit fed up by the amount of posters from England coming on here talking about soccer, I apologise. However this news, if true, does affect both of our teams. If there are any worries from your end about what this means for Boston and their financies I can say that a properly run Liverpool FC will not affect the running of the Red Sox in the slightest.

He's a serious owner. He's very interested in winning and maxamizing his investment, realizing that the two go hand in hand. He's occasionally sloppy with his communication tactics, but he also spends a lot of money and brings in good talent. Overall I have been impressed with this ownership group. They took on the challenge of winning a championship for a team that had not won for 86 seasons prior and won two championships in a 4 year period.

On the subject of funds I say any bidder who made our debt disappear without loading another pile on should be a seriously considered. If a decent transfer fund is available it is a plus, but I am in no way looking for a Man City scenario.

Im not sure I want Liverpool FC to be owned by someone who cant spell the word "socks" properly!

I guess all of us Liverpool Fans are here for the same information.

Thanks for your insights. Due to the current financial climate in football (soccer), Liverpool desperately need a new stadium in order to increase revenues to be able to compete with clubs who are financial superpowers. Would John Henry have the money to make such an investment.

It's not unthinkable that the club would need 500 million GBP spent on it.

Thanks guys

as a Liverpool fan I would have prefered someone with a knowledge of football (football is the game where you use your feet to play! not the game were the players wear kinky tights and crash helmets) to have bought the club and not somone who's interests include girls sports like baseball! incidentally we call it rounders here and its played by 9 year olds with pony tails, in fact pretty much the same as in the US really!

Anyway... I hope this JWH has plenty of lucre as he's going to need it!

I do hope you ignoramuses check out Liverpool FC and all the s*** the clubs fans have caused Gillette & Hicks over the last 3 years.

Have a nice day!

@jibbo

Has John Henry (or NESV) any knowledge about football? The other two y*nks (sorry, iam just angry of what they have done to our club) Gillett and Hicks knew s*** about football, f***ing c*nts.

I hope this one is for real.

Red Sox fans should be worried, no one who gets into football ever makes any money from it.

As Alan Sugar, English Billionaire recently put, "You cannot make money from it, and if you did you are frowned upon because it is not the done thing, because football is a place where you scrap together every last penny and spend it on players and the ground. Football is against the culture of business in the sense of it being a money-making industry."

I think Alan Sugar has a point. Football is no money industry, is pure love.

That's the difference. English people bitch because Americans can't talk "real" english' date=' but most "Hispano-parlantes" can talk real Spanish. (And hint, it's not the regional crap they speak in certain regions of Spain.)[/quote']

I'm pretty sure you mean "speak" real English.

Hey Jibbo, well done on antagonising the Red Sox fans.

Most Americans don`t follow soccer.

Most couldn't`t care less about Liverpool.

Instead of trying to educate these fans about soccer you do your best to insult them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I apologise as a Liverpool fan (who registered here to express solidarity with The Boston

Red Sox fans because we could soon be part of NEVS`s franchise) that your 1st impression

of Liverpool fans was Jibbo`s insults.

Most Liverpool fans are more educated and mature and we look forward to some light hearted banter with your fans.

Maybe we`ll start supporting your team and vice-verse.

Does this sound fishy to anyone else? Like at least 5 members have joined and first thing they asked was about Liverpool.

What`s fishy about it?

News broke this morning in England that the owner of The Boston Red Sox had bid to

buy Liverpool FC.

Liverpool fans 1st instinct is to log onto Red Sox forums and ask questions about your owners.

I`d expect an influx of Liverpool fans to this site until the sale is complete.:harhar:

The news has just broke this morning in Europe, and of course we would like to know a little more about NESV and John Henry, thats why thousands and thousands probaply will log on to this site today.

Now you’ve crossed the line.

On Thursday afternoon of last week, a mob of despondent Liverpool supporters burned U.S. flags in protest of American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Jr.

Really? This group of myopic peasants took it upon themselves to desecrate the American flag – the Stars and Stripes which represents 300 million people – on the basis of two men’s actions (or in some cases, inaction)?

Lebanon? Tehran? Hardly ... this despicable display was in Liverpool, England.

That’s not just any flag. That’s my flag.

Burning stars and stripes is obviously out of order. I would like to apologize for the act - although i did not participate.

it has to be taken in context, these two have ruined the lives of a lot of people over the last few years. Its not meant as an attack on all American people but meant to send a message to those two to let them know how much we hate and want them out!

Hi All

I'm an Irish Red Sox fan (who happens to follow UK soccer, too.) I am fairly well versed in what's going on over the water in Britain with regards to Liverpool. I have great fears about this move on many levels and fear a buyout of a UK soccer team could seriously undermine the Sox. To make a successful soccer club would take upwards of a billion dollars...this is money that we need in Boston.

I have grave misgivings about this move on so many levels and feel questions need to be asked:

1) How do Red Sox fans feel about our legendary American institution propping up a sports club whose fans have been known to burn the stars and stripes?

2) How do Red Sox fans feel about our legendary institution propping up a soccer club whose fans were responsible for European football's most horrific act of hooliganism? This is the knd of link we don't need.

3) Liverpool's football club are in freefall. Possibly they are on the brink of becoming a casuality of the world's finanacial crisis. Cancer has set in there and cancer spreads. I do not want the Red Sox putting themselves in a position whereby the cancer spreads to us and our great institution. We spent a long time getting ourselves fixed - getting into bed with a xenophobic, anti-American basket case of a sports club would be utter madness. Bailing out Liverpool would be like signing up Mike Tyson and OJ Simpson for our next PR campaign. Utter madness.

I agreed that the two americans is a plague to us (they are not gone yet!). Like every other red i would like them to get the hell out of our club! I know it was only meant as an atttack on Hicks and Gillett, howevver i think an outside person could interpret it differently.

Are you a Man U or Chelsea supporting Red Sox fan?

Are you suggesting that DonegalSox is a liar, if so try and defend rather than accuse.

I thought he made some very good points myself, in fact for a moment he made me feel rather ashamed of being scouse.

Liverpool fans make Oakland Raiders and Philly fans look like angels. Liverpool fans went so far as to even attack an ambulance of an opposing player as it took him to a hospital after he broke his leg (and the fans in the stadium sung a song cheering the leg break).

I don't think American businessmen have any clue what they are getting into when they buy a soccer club. They formula for success is differnet than American sports and as soon as the Liverpool supporters realize that they are not like the Man City owners willing to throw hundereds of millions of dollars at bringing players in, they will turn on them.

@Liverpool

How utterly predictable.

I'm a Red Sox fan. I also follow Aston Villa - a club proud of it's American connection - not that it has anything to do with anything...

Believe you me, as a Sox fan I would be totally outraged if we were to be connected in anyway to Liverpool football club. I urge any Sox fans to look at the anti-American hatred that this club has been spurting out over the past few years.

If the Sox were to kook up with Liverpool it would totally destabilize our progress this past decade. We would be signing ourselves up to bailing out a sports club, deep in cancer, looking for a quick fix.

Liverpool's suppoters have been harrassing their current owners for two years now, because things haven't been going their way. If Henry offers no quick fix do we want them to plague him, too? No. As I say, Liverpool are a club with many, many problems - if we bail them out those problems will simply spread over to us.

No offence "Liverpool", but the Sox are a genuinely legendary sporting institution built on fair play. Your club has a history of hysteria, violence, arrogance and anti-American xenophobia. The Sox should steer WELL clear.

Iam not suggesting, iam just asking

I understand his fear about the deal, however the thing about Heysel, he clearly don't know anything about, and i don't have the time at the moment to educate him. The stars and stripes thing is discussed above. Compare our brand with Tyson and O.J. suggest very little brain activity.
