You almost never see those kind of mistakes from a Nick Saban coached team. You have to be in punt safe with that down and distance, on that part of the field.

Ugh, just awful. No back to back Nat'l Championships for Alabama. Horrendous defensive half, and they waited way too long to spread it out and throw on a subpar LSU secondary.

Haha yeah yeah yeah whatever. I got to admit though that game was boring. Barely any points were scored.

We didn't throw the ball a single time in the 2nd half. Bam.

I seriously wouldn't have cared if we had won 2-0, I just wanted that W and we got it. I'm having such a blast this season. I can't even put it into words.

Really sad stuff this week with Nick Bell's tragic death though. So, so awful. He was one of our defensive ends.

What do you think about the Mississippi State @ Alabama game this weekend' date=' y228?[/quote']

My main concern would be a similar thing happening to Alabama this week that happened to them against Utah in the Sugar Bowl a couple of years ago. That was the only game since 2007 where they had no hopes of winning the National Championship, and it seemed pretty clear that the Alabama players weren't really up for that game. They'll be in trouble if that happens on Saturday, but if it doesn't, I'm pretty confident.

Alabama's biggest weakness on defense is defending the pass, as DeMarcus Milliner and Dre Kirkpatrick have been awful (and I think Mark Barron has been a disappointment, but I won't find a lot of agreement there), but I don't think that Mississippi St. has the passing attack to take advantage in that area. On the other hand, while MSU does run the ball extremely well, I still trust Alabama's defensive front against almost anyone. On that side of the ball, I just don't see MSU moving the ball too effectively.

On the other hand, I also see Alabama's offensive having some of their own struggles. They probably won't score a ton, but Greg McElroy and Julio Jones are on such a roll right now that MSU will probably be forced to routinely roll coverages over to his side, which should help out Maze, Hanks, and Dial. There's also Ingram and Richardson, so I hope they'll be able to help control the clock, in a game that may very well be played in the teens.

If you have the time, I'd be very interested to hear your take on the game from the Mississippi State perspective.

Just saw this. I'm about to head to the Mississippi State basketball opener, but I'll try to jump on here sometime late tonight and post my thoughts on the game tomorrow.

Honestly, I'm terrified about this game. I have a bad feeling it's going to end up being like the Alabama/Florida game from a couple months back, but if we play like we're capable it could be a tight one. I don't really see any scenario in which we actually win - I simply think Alabama is too talented and playing at Bryant-Denny just makes it ten times tougher.

Obviously Mississippi State can run the ball about as good as any team in college football, but Alabama is also really good at stopping the run. That's the main reason I'm worried about how the offense is going to do tomorrow night. We occasionally pass the ball, but Chris Relf isn't all that accurate sometimes. I love the guy and he suits our running offense well, but he will have 2-3 throws a game where we'll have a guy open and he will just sail the ball or shortarm it or something. Relf dropping back to pass can be a little scary at times for State fans. Haha. I don't know if you've seen us play a lot this year, but we're very conservative offensively and don't throw it deep hardly at all. What State has done this year is run the ball very, very well, play tough defense, and don't turn it over. That's been a pretty effective formula for success, but if we get behind tomorrow that doesn't bode well because with a weak passing attack we aren't built to come from behind.

Overall I think we have a top three defense in the SEC. Despite what Channing Crowder's racist ass thinks, good white linebackers do exist and Chris White is among the best in the nation. KJ Wright is also fantastic in his own right. The defense has been something we've been able to fall back on - we held Auburn to 17 points which looks more impressive by the week - but my main concern is moving the ball on offense. Our kickoff/punt coverage also scares the crap out of me too. Can't give up the big plays on special teams tomorrow and expect to win.

I really hope we can keep it close and give Bama a scare, and it's extremely important to not fall behind by much so we can continue to run our usual offense pounding it out on the ground and not having to try to throw the ball a lot. I'm expecting a pissed off Alabama team tomorrow following the LSU loss last week, but we'll be ready too.

Alabama 23, Mississippi State 9

Best of luck to you sir. (We should discuss the Cam Newton saga sometime)

USF almost had a pic that look like it was returnable for a TD on third down on the last U-Conn drive. Anyways I'll give them credit where it's due. Nice 52 yd FG. I'm sure Miami Hurricanes fans are happy haha. I'm also glad Florida St lost to VA Tech. Suck it f***ers.
