Rizzo

20 years old in AA

Anderson

22 years old in AAA

AAA line: .243/.333/.403

Anderson has some more time, but I think what Rizzo has done is more impressive. Especially since he's gone through chemo and is probably still recovering in terms of strength and lag time from his chemo. I think Rizzo ends up as a MLB caliber 1b, with a ceiling of being a very strong hitter, a la Adam LaRoche.

Really think Rizzo is more legit. I saw Anderson on the NESN game and wasn't too impressed. reminds me of your other 1B, Ryan Shealy had the hype but never lived up to it.

Don't want to give up completely on Lars, but Rizzo is the guy you kinda have to pin your hopes on atm. Right now there's still plenty of room in the minors for both players so it's not really a contest -- having 2 high-potential 1B is a good thing, not a bad thing. But Anderson needs to turn it around -- fast.

Rizzo hands down...Lars still has time to develop but the last season and a half he's not shown he can handle top flight pitching...Rizzo on the other hand has progressed nicely with just a short time in A ball...let's see how he does next year at AAA...he could be a stud in a couple of years! 57 extra base hits already this year is huge power.

Fast? He's only 22 in AAA and about 5 years younger than the average player in that league so he has plenty of time. I could very well see him having a huge year next year as he did in AA this year.

That said I like Rizzo a little better, his power is awesome for anyone let alone a 20yr old in AA.

The problem with Anderson is that this is the second time he's had that learning curve every time he moves up a level. I don't seriously see the Sox bringing him up to Boston, and watching him hit .200 for his first four months.

Rizzo. Hands down. More power potential. Much better defensively. Shows just this season. He has already surpassed Andersons numbers in Portland. Anderson could be used as trade bait now.

"fast" because Rizzo's closing quickly and I don't think either of them DHing or playing left field would be positive for their development. Neither would Rizzo being trapped in Portland blocked by what looks suspiciously like the inferior prospect.

I think Anderson is on display for the last month of the season with the hopes they can get ANYTHING from him. I think his time has come and gone regardless of his age. I think the Rizzo kid has passed him. RIght now is a Anderson showcase.

Lars is 23. It'll be a long time before he should be given up on. The fact that he's improving his defense and finished this year strong at Pawtucket should give us a little bit of hope that he'll be up in Boston for good eventually.

Guys a legit top 25 prospect no doubt though those numbers are certainly inflated by a heavy hitters league.

I really wish Anderson would develop the power we've been waiting for because he really is a very fundamentally sound hitter at the plate

Lars has a great eye at the plate always. He has yet to developed power we expected, might though still, just as Youkilis did in 2008, at age 27.

I wouldn't trust any numbers from the PCL. Top 25 might be a bit of a stretch, he's a good prospect but I don't think he's that good.

Wouldn't mind Rizzo back in 5-6 years if he become something.
In my mind that would be the optimal use of a prospect. Use them to get a current star. Let another team develop them, and then get back the finished product for more prospects.
