Because whenever the "captain" has passed on opportunities to show some real class by:

-speaking out openly against teammates that have used PED's.

-telling his third-baseman that we don't yell "I got it!" while we are running the bases, or run across the pitcher's mound after making an out because it makes our team look like bush leaguers.

-ending the long standing Yankee habit of holding constant and endless defensive meetings on the mound. Passive-aggressive bull manure.

Haha really bro?

I didn't hear Varitek say s*** to Ortiz either when his name was revealed. You're closer acts like a fool during every appearance, either by blowing it or dancing around like an idiot, making himself look "bush" in the meantime. And are you really going to bitch about mound-meetings? Seriously dude? Take the pacifier out of your mouth and grow up.

Oh no, that's just the appetizer. I'm just warming up.

I have enough of these to last a lifetime. You see, I've been collecting them, archiving them. Where shall we continue...how about we just start with the incredibly "poor loser" tactic called the "protest."

2010- Girardi protests b/c MDC got to throw a few more warm up pitches when Beckett came out of the game and onto the DL the next day. Classy move there. Yankees lose. Protest Denied by MLB.

2009- Waits one pitch before moaning about a "double switch" he can't quite fathom against the Marlins. Yankees Lose. Protest Denied by MLB.

There's the Posada interference issue is 2004. Yankees lose. Protest denied by MLB.

And my all time favorite, when they asked for a "forfeit" against the Devil Rays in 2004 because the Rays missed their flight due to Hurricane Frances! Result of the "forfeit request" you ask? Denied by MLB.

Still, all of this wouldn't bother me if the team, and their fans, just said, "It's all about the winning and we don't care how we do it." Just don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining; don't start in with the "Yankee Class" malarkey.

I absolutely love this thread. Another bitter, broken sox fan. You know, we have another space over here in Yankee fandom, u willing to come to the darkside? We will GLADLY take another broken, bitter soul

This is a very good summary of your point. Clear, lucid, and concise.

Unfortunately, you've just fallen into one of the two classic blunders. The first is, don't ever get into a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this, never expect a Yankee fan on this forum to get your point and respond sensibly. (see Jacko's response for a prime example)

That being said, this thread serves little purpose. Every non-Yankee fan here will agree with you that the "Yankee Class" ******** you year from their fans is nothing more than pathetic ego stroking. Every Yankee fan won't.

This whole 'Yankees' Class' thing is stupid, something that is perpetuated by parts of the fan-base who want to view their favorite team as above all others. Every large fan-base of a team that consistently wins has this group of fans (although not all of them take the 'class' route).

Additionally, 26-6, I don't think the proper tact here is to defend the Yankees by pointing out what Red Sox's players do. It's an unnecessary comparison, and only makes you come across as too defensive.

With that being said, I would like to respond to a couple of db41's points.

First, I think your two criticisms of Derek Jeter are a bit off base. No matter how he feels personally about A-Rod, or any of the steroid users that have played for the Yankees, it would be a disservice to the entire organization if Jeter spoke out publicly against them. There is a distinct possibility that it could create a clubhouse rift that would significantly impair the team moving forward. Those are in-house issues, not ones you that you go to the media with.

Second, when you talk about the Yankees' mound visits, I think you're referring more to games 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series last year than anything else. Besides those games, the Yankees really don't hold defensive meetings on the mound much more than any other teams. As for the World Series, they clearly thought the Phillies were stealing signs, judging by the fact that they were going with series signs when no one was on base. With that being the case, in the World Series, I don't think you can blame them for taking extra precautions.

Papelbon Dances around. What about Joba? DO you really wanna complain about that.

About Jeter, he and Rivera and Posada are the only real Yankees.

A-rod has no Class in my opinion. He has brought a lot of shame to the Yankees while he has been NY.

Madonna, Slapping the ball away, screaming at the third baseman, running across the mound.

He is really the no class Yankee that it is right now.

Everyone else on the Yankees has fewer pinstripes on their jerseys compared to Jeter, Rivera, and Posada.

Dammit! A thoughtful response from a Yankee Fan-- another oxymoron. 228, you've thrown me an unexpected curveball. I'll have to think about this...

I find it hilarious when Yankee fans go, "he's a true Yankee now!" There are no true Yankees when most of the players are hired guns bought via free agency. Until the Yankees win a World Series in capped league, you really can't give credit to all those titles

CC obviously has the most, he's like twice as big as everyone else on the team.

A teacher asks her students if they're Yankees fans. All of the hands go up except for one student. "Okay, Bobby. What team are you a fan of?"

"The Red Sox."

"Why's that?"

"Well, my parents are both Red Sox fans, so I'm a Red Sox fan too."

"That's not a good answer, Bobby. If your parents were both morons, would you be a moron too?"

"No, that would make me a Yankees fan!"

Except for Nick Johnson (who was also developed by the Yankees), who's injured, not one player in their starting lineup was acquired via free agency. Of their starting pitchers, three were acquired via free agency, but one of those three was developed by the Yankees. Lastly, no prominent member of their bullpen was acquired via free agency.

It depends on how you classify the IFA's, considering that the FA in IFA stands for "Free Agent".

I think it's pretty clear that his post is referring to the Yankees purchasing established stars, not prospects. However, I admit, I should have clarified.

I agree with your point in reference to Mino's post; however, in terms of your previous post, the definition of "homegrown" varies on one's placement of IFA's with respect to FA's and drafted players.

I hate the yankees for many reasons. There fans absolutely suck. There all annoying and most of the yankee fans are bandwagons. They swear they're on top of the world because they have 28 championships.I remember the ALCS in 2004 Red Soxs vs Yankees(btw we won in 7 games) my friend who is a huge yankee fan was like "even though you won we still have 27 championships"(they didn't win 28 yet).I was like are you kidding me?They always seem to use the championship excuse for everything.I don't care if they have 100 championships.Out of those 28 they're so called best player "A-ROD" only won one of them.If we were to judge people on rings then we'd all be saying LeBron james is garbage..or maybe even Dan Marino.Anyways yankees may have the best record but i give all the credit to Robinson Cano,C.C Sabthia,Mariano Rivera.I mean C.C is just nasty and Rivera as much as i hate to admit it is the best closer in baseball today. But seriously Robinson Cano does everything on the offense. He always comes through when they need him.Jeter and A-Rod are not even a threat this season.Every once in a blue moon A rod will have a good game. Not to mention that Robinson Cano leads the team in homeruns,RBI'S,runs, and Batting Average.Lol talk about a one man team.:harhar:

Sweeping generalizations are never correct my friend. There are respectable, knowledgeable Yankee fans (even if there aren't many of them) hell, we feature a couple of those here on this site.

And Mark Teixeira. There's a case for Alex Rodriguez too, who opted out of the contract he was in, just so that he could get a raise from the only team capable of paying it. Furthermore, he was acquired after, and only after, all other offers to trade him under his previous contract failed. The Yankees scarf up talented players who other teams find burdensome to their financial plans. Yes, some of their starters weren't acquired as FA contracts. However, in recent history, many of their trades were about, and only about, salary relief, which goes back to the principle mentioned in the post, the financial advantage.
