Hey gom' date=' remember tek was catching last night... and beckett gave up 7 runs[/quote']

It will happen. Vmart will also catch a game in which the pitching gives up two runs.

The worst hitter will on occasion go 3-4, while the best hitter will go 0-4. Over time, it will even out.

Hell, Posada nearly caught a no-hitter yesterday.

Somehow I think amount of runs given up depends more on pitchers than catchers. Yeah I know' date=' now I'm just talking crazy![/quote']

gom in his prediction thread said that basically the pitchers will struggle with him as catcher. I was pointing out that Beckett with his binky Varitek catching, he had a torrid start. And yes its more on the pitcher. Hamilton's homerun last night was a flat pitch-middle in and Tek wanted it away

Beckett and Lester both had ERA's above 5 last year thru middle of May, with Tek catching. How come he couldnt make all stars out of Penny and Smoltz last year? Tek knows his pitching staff well, but hes not a good luck charm.

V-Mart has caught 2 cy young award winners. Last year with the Sox, he mostly caught Smoltz, Penny, and Byrd. Thats why his era was up as much as it has been talked about. He did however catch for Buchholz down the stretch, who was one of the main reasons why they won the wild card

In all fairness, he only caught 55 games during Cliff Lee's Cy Young season. But you are absolutely right, when guys like CC, Lee, and Lester are on, and locating their pitches, it really doesn't matter who is catching.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if VMart costs .5 to 1 runs a game for a guy with slow pitches like Wakefield, but its not VMarts slow reaction time that's costing so many runs at this point, its the starting rotation sucking, and until the rotation warms up, there is no way we can know how relevent he is to runs scored.

Oh I know. My sarcasm was pointed at Gom.

While I realize Hermida (I think I got it right this time!) is coming back down to Earth, why is Hall starting again? Is it just the RH bat thing? If so, really?

I'm not so sure Mother nature will cooperate tonight.

Lot's of thunder and lightening 38 miles sw of Boston. Now more rain.

God save me from Mel Kiper.

The little "player note" next to Vlad for my fantasy team says hes getting the night off and Cruz is DH'ing.

Really don't like Buchholz slowing the game down worrying about Murphy on first and not attacking the free swinging Davis.

Was about to post this. Murphy basically annoyed the BB out of Buch. Nice pitch to K Teagarden though.
