Right' date=' but what does that have to do with Gom's comment about CC running out of gas, partly enabling the Red Sox to come back on Sunday?[/quote']

Nevermind. It was just in relation to you saying that C.C. tiring/running out of gas won't be a recurring theme.

(So i said "neither will Chan Ho shutting the Red Sox down for 3 innings" or Boston leaving so many men on base the last two nights.)

Absolutely, but there is no need for a comparison. Both claims are accurate, and don't need to be disputed. You called Gom out, as if what he was saying was somehow inaccurate. I was only responding to that.

Sucks... could be 3-0 right now with a little help from the umpires and the offense.

Funny. You lost two out of three, and think you could have been 3-0.

I'm gonna love this season.

Um, actually we could've gotten the sweep if one or two things happen differently. Same as the Yankees could've swept if a thing or two happen differently Sunday. All three games were really tight.

You probably get swept if Posada caught that one pitch.

This was evident to me during my week in Ft. Myers. Unless MDC rediscovers his fastball or Ramirez rediscovers his early season magic from last season' date=' there is little talent out there that can step up after Bard and Papelbon. [/quote']

I agree. I mean, they have some servicable options, but nobody who will be able to reliably get out the best hitters in the game (Jeter, Teix, A-Rod) when it matters most.

I disagree. Scutaro is average in the field, not as good as Lowrie or Alex Gonzalez. We still stink at catcher and holding on runners.

I think the jury is still out on Scutaro. My impression of him is that he is a good everyday MLB SS. He isn't spectacular but he will make most of the plays and make some very good ones. Offensively he's considerably better than Alex Gonzalez, probably not as good as Jed Lowrie was supposed to have been.

I disagree. Bay was more valuable because he is a much more significant power threat, plus he could run the bases. VMart is like an old warhorse on the bases.

We will agree to disagree. V-Mart comes across as a hitter with fewer vulnerabilities. He plays a more important position (and thus adds offense from a more valuable place) and he's a switch hitter who fits nicely in the middle of the lineup. I also think he will command less than Jason Bay did.

Except that defense is more important behind the plate than it is in left field. Vmart will cost you a ton of runs behind the plate...and for that reason, I pray you sign him to a nice, long contract.

Don't expect 16 walks every 3 games.

Why not? I expect this lineup to walk a massive amount. ARod, Swisher, and Johnson will be near 100. Tex and Jeter right behind them in walks. This lineup is one of the most patient I have ever seen

Scutaro has been subpar by a LONG shot on defense thus far. His range isnt great, his hands are good, and thus far, Youk has saved 2 more errors that would have come from him on throws. Could just be a bad series, but he didnt impress in the field

Too bad there wasnt any wind to help out Youkkkks deep blast and Beltre and Mike Cameron deep on the track, cant wait til we see the Yanks again on May 7th!

On May 7th' date=' the Yankees should be in full swing. You only got to see them at half speed.[/quote']

No one cares.

I don't disagree that he will cost less than Bay, but as a catcher he is worse than Bay is as a First basemen IMO. Bay is more of a gamebreaking pwer threat than VMart, and we need that kind of threat.

It's always disappointing to lose to the Yankees, but only a fool would judge a team by how they play in April. The Red Sox figure to be a much better team pitching-wise and defensively over the course of the season. I take it as a good sign that so much went poorly for the Sox in the Yankees series and they still stayed close in every game though.

I agree with all of this except the last sentence. That's just the ebb and flow of baseball games. Yeah, things went wrong for them, but lots of things went right for them. The same goes for the Yankees, while they did some things right, other things also went wrong for them.

The 2010 Red Sox are a very good team. So are the Yankees, and I'd be surprised if both teams didn't make the playoffs. However, the fact that they stayed close with whatever you're referring to going wrong isn't a sign of anything. They stayed close because they're a good team, and they did enough things right to win one game, and make the other two competitive.
