Looking at his starts so far, I'd be surprised if Nova gave the Yankees a shut down inning here.

EDIT: Yup, here we go. I shouldn't be able to predict this stuff, but this isn't surprising at all.

Granderson hits #20. He is really' date=' really proving his worth[/quote']

he's an alright complimentary player. his defense has been better than expected but 2009 is looking less like a fluke for him offensively now that he's had two down years in a row. war has him 13th out of 26 centerfielders so he's more or less league average for his position

Inexplicable too. He's at 72 pitches.

But not surprising. Can't believe they're allowing him to face Crawford. What has Joe seen that would lead him to believe Nova can get out of this?

His biggest issue has been lefties. Right after the ASB, hit OPS vs righties was near .900, but his OPS vs lefties was in the mid .500s. If, and this is a big if, Long has tweaked something to where he could even be a .700OPS hitter vs lefties, then he will be very, very solid

Joe is seeing pink elephants and listening to Pink Floyd.

Great job Cervelli, you f***

Yep. Leave him in for Longoria. Great f***ing idea. Jesus Christ Joe' date=' make it clear to everyone that you dont care about the f***ing division so we can stop wasting our time watching. Christ[/quote']

Worked out, although I still don't think it was the correct move.

He just seems to detonate in the 6th. Might be time to get the pen warming

it's not all that surprising given this stage of his development. when hitters haven't seen him before, he can get by on his good fastball/changeup combination but his curve needs a lot of work and he's fairly predictable in that he pitches everyone away

I would have gone to Wood.

Wouldn't have been Wood, because Joe named him the 8th inning guy. But I get your point, and either Robertson or Joba would have been better.

Actually, the Rays saw him last week. It has nothing to do with his curve needing work. His curve has actually been very solid as has his change. His problem isnt his stuff. He just loses command almost instantaneously the third time through. This inning was the first inning that he couldnt locate his fastball and he paid for it

he's got potential but his curve and slider aren't very good yet

Maybe it's his injury, but Teixeira flat out sucks right now.

The Rays haven't hit a single ball hard this entire inning, yet they've scored three, and have a big chance for more. And now Joe is showing that he doesn't care at all about winning these games. Wonderful.

His curveball was money tonight and has been very, very good thus far in his big league career. He dominates when he locates his fastball. His problem seems to be that he loses command/confidence in the fastball, the retreats from it. He's a kid. He has 3 plus pitches. He just needs the confidence to not back away from them when he hits a rut
