His curveball was money tonight and has been very' date=' very good thus far in his big league career. He dominates when he locates his fastball. His problem seems to be that he loses command/confidence in the fastball, the retreats from it. He's a kid. He has 3 plus pitches. He just needs the confidence to not back away from them when he hits a rut[/quote']

when i've seen him pitch he's missed his spots with his curve more often than not. throwing a curve with good movement and throwing a curve with good movement in the spot where you wanted it are two very different things

i haven't seen any scouting report make the claim that his curve is a plus pitch. i think you're taking some poetic license there

you need a new scapegoat' date=' you sound like a broken record[/quote']

He really is as bad as Jacko is making him out to be. Yeah, the team has other flaws, which have been discussed thoroughly, but Joe has been horrendous from day one. There are a lot of reasons for this bad stretch of play, but Joe has contributed in a big way.

Requires subscription and they describe exactly what is happening to him right now. 2 plus pitches, mid 90s heater with good movement and pretty solid control. His problem has always been confidence and the ability to set up hitters. He's improving on the latter, but the former is going to limit him this yr

he's a bad manager, and i've agreed with most of the criticisms i've heard of him but the last couple of weeks pretty much every time something goes wrong for the yankees you two start calling for girardi's head

And it's almost always deserved. He's a big reason why they've been losing. They're losing most of these games by the slimmest of margins, and that's where a manager really impacts a game. Joe has consistently impacted it negatively.

Mostly because we can read the tea leaves and we arent managing or coaching. And the decisions he f***s up are obvious. Because he f***ed up and went to f***ing Gaudin, he'll now have to overextend his pen and possibly go to extra innings in game 1 of a 4 game set. He's a horrible manager

what's he supposed to do, go to mo in the 6th inning? when the starter can't get through the 6th, the manager kind of has to put some less than ideal relief pitchers out there

Great call there by Joe. I'd much rather him take a chance with the hit and run than sacrifice the runner over, which has rarely resulted in runs for this team.

No, he's supposed to go to a middle reliever, not a long reliever. We have Chamberlain and Robertson before Wood and Mo.

No reason he couldn't go to Joba there.

That's one of the highest leverage situations of the entire game.

First time I have been a fan of a Joe Girardi call in awhile

it's pretty standard for a manager not to use his set up guy in the 6th inning

Yeah!!!! 2nd and 3rd' date=' Yankees up a run. If our manager tries to lose the game, the players will try to negate that! Girardi is good for -1 run per night, we need to overcome the spread[/quote']

joe girardi makes a move that works out and you're still on his case

Joba isn't his eighth inning guy, Wood is. He's the third or fourth reliever in the bullpen. It's completely common to see a pitcher like that enter the game in that kind of situation.
