I don't see anyone beating the Yanks this season.Barring injury' date=' they should coast to the playoffs and win the series. I hate them![/quote']

Believe me. I hope that it is only the senile dementia talking, but right now I think the Yanks, Rays, and Twins have better lineups than the Sox. Unless Ortiz can start hitting like he did in the second half of 2009, our lineup will not scare many pitchers. Letting Bay walk was a mistake.

The Rays may actually have the best lineup in baseball.

Great day at the Stadium...

Yo 26...you lost a lot of weight man. Chicks dig the thin guys. Good job bro. Good to see you again.

They're definitely a really good team. They've got a very durable rotation, with a true ace. They've got a solid bullpen, with an exceptional closer. They have a lineup that is solid from top to bottom, with a nice mix of OBP, power, and speed. Additionally, the defense has improved to the point where it should be around average at worst.

It would seem like they've finally started to couple their financial advantage with some very good front offices decisions. They're going to be very tough this year.

However, it's still early. I'd be very surprised if they didn't make the playoffs, but anything past that is far from a certainty. In the case of the Red Sox, if they get in, they can beat anyone with their staff. They're going to be tough in a short series.

The Red Sox are not as strong as people think. The Rays are stronger than most people think. It's going to be a fight for the wild card.

I have more faith in this year's Yankees' team than any team I've rooted for in awhile. With that being said, we're seven games into the season. To talk as if the division is locked up is foolish.

And for the record' date=' the Rays have a ton of the problems in the bullpen that are going to be tough to overcome. We witnessed that on Sunday.[/quote']

But it's Gom. What did you expect?

Yeah but between which teams?

In terms of lineups, I agree with him. NY, Minny, and TB have deeper lineups with bigger bats in the middle. Minnesota, even without Nathan has a good pen and a reasonable rotation. TB has a good rotation, but an abysmal pen. We'll see how they are when Howell returns. NY has a good pen, a good rotation, and a very strong lineup. Boston has an above average lineup, a good rotation, and what should be a good pen after they sort some things out. In terms of complete teams, I dont see TB making the playoffs, and I think NY wins the ALE and the Sox win the ALWC

If Rays don't make it to the playoffs this year they will be out of luck, Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena will be gone next year. From what Rays owner Sternberg said, they'll be down to the $50 million range, or lower. Bartlett and B.J. Upton are getting expensive enough, and close enough to free agency, that they may be trade candidates.

It's still early, but Piniero is going to be extremely difficult to beat today. Those two runs might be enough. He has it all working.

EDIT: When that is the best Posada can do with a 2-0 pitch, you know the pitcher is sharp.

Just a terrible job there by Javy. Gets way ahead, and then threw three straights pitches way out of the zone, none of them even tempting Hunter to swing. Then he throws a cookie.

The last thing the Yankees can afford to do is give that run right back.

EDIT 2: Cannot pitch to Morales here.

EDIT 3: Joe just sometimes seems so clueless. Piniero has looked great, and he's making no effort to prevent this run from scoring.

And here is where Joe also struggles. Prior to yesterday, Robertson pitched last Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday. Aceves has only pitched once this year, which was last Tuesday. Yet, with an opportunity to give Aceves some much needed work, where the game wasn't close, he goes back to Robertson. Now he expects Aceves to come in here and get some big outs. He might do it, but Joe's job is to give him the best opportunity to succeed, and Joe just so rarely does that.

Pitching change, but another right hander, so Teixeira isn't being turned around to the bigger part of the park. He is really scuffling now though.

So tough to come back in these spots, because you need some breaks. Robbie hit that ball as hard as you can hit it, and instead of playing no doubles, Scoisia had his third base way off the line. Instead of a single to keep the line moving, it was out, and proved to be the turning point of the inning.

Credit to Pineiro, but the Yankees had nothing going offensively from the start.

Thing is, with Teixeira hitting third, right in the middle of rallies, he is really hurting this team. I don't expect any changes to the lineup, so it's just something that is what it is, which is too bad.

Tex hit .200 in last April. It is still early so they shouldn't worry. once it hits may he will start to hit better and the three hole won't be a rally killer for you.

I don't disagree, and, in the long run, I'm not concerned at all. However, in the immediate future, it will likely be a recurring problem.

You gotta lose sometime.

Vazquez had nothing again. He had better location today than his last start, but his stuff was just crappy. Should turn around, but we'll see.

The key to defeating the Yankees is to throw a lot of strikes to the corners and to keep the ball in the yard. With Piniero now being a sinkerballer, he keeps the ball in the yard. He didnt walk a batter and he was just pumping in strikes left and right. He was dynamite, so sometimes you just tip your cap. More interested in seeing Hughes tomorrow, but if we can take that game, three straight series wins looks pretty nice
