Everyone is talking about Jim Joyce and what he missed and the Galarraga thing, no one is talking about David Huff making his start after getting hit in the head.

Do you actually wonder why?

It pains me to say it, but I kind of feel where suns is coming from. Not for the same reasons as him, but I'm sick of hearing about it and seeing the replay and all of that stuff. I realize it's a big story and it deserves the coverage and attention that it's getting, but it just disgusts me to continue to have it constantly shoved down my throat (not directed to ANYONE at all in particular, but rather in general....just wanted to be clear about that lol) when there's so much else going on in baseball right now. I know this isn't the thread for this but it just really sucks for Griffey that like his incredible talents and hall of fame career, which were overshadowed by injuries and cheaters, to have to have his departure from the game he loved and respected so much be overshadowed by this f***ing ******** call. That being said Selig and co. need to address the situation and implement some sort of review system.

Also on another unrelated note that didn't deserve a thread of its own, but I think it's interesting, is the imminent firing of Dave Trembly in Baltimore. They plan on having their third-base coach, Juan Samuel, assume the role of interim manager for the time being. Whether they go look for a permanent manager in-season or wait until the offseason, it's going to be interesting to see who they choose to try and fix up that mess again. In my opinion, the guy I think would be an amazing candidate for that position for many various reasons, is Bobby Valentine.

Anyway, intoxicated rant over. Thanks for listening talksox...

Phillies managed to pull out a 3-2 win today. Although that's still putrid when you consider 2 of the runs depended on the pitcher getting a hit and being handed a bases loaded walk.

Mitch Talbot sucks? He leads rookies in wins (6).

Where did that come from? (Unless I missed something...)

Also, idk if this is the right place for this kind of roster news/speculation/rumors/predictions, but I looked and couldnt find, and don't even know for sure if there's an existing general MLB news thread this season (like there was in the offseason with the offseason roster moves thread or whatever), and I didn't feel it deserved a new thread..........but Randy Winn is apparently close to signing with the Cardinals.

I've never been much of a Winn fan, and I definitely thought he was a horrible fit with the Yanks from the day they signed him, but I'm glad a guy with his experience, knowledge, and tools is getting an opportunity to help another team. Hope it goes through and that all goes well for him there.

Like usual I'm pulling for either a Yankee/Dodgers or Yankee/Cardinals World Series.

It got brought up because I spot started him against the Royals and got lit up, so I was pissed off at Talbot, and Dipre basically said "what do you expect, he sucks"

That's because he sucks, he has 24 BB to 27 K on the year. He has a 3.78 ERA so far, but you can't keep that ERA up if you basically walk and K the same amount of hitters (and a BB/9 of 3.26 is atrocious) . Not to mention he has a .257 BABIP.

In essence, he's a s***** pitcher enjoying a good luck run. The fact that he has six wins are meaningless to the core of the argument, which consists of two points:

1) He sucks.

2) Because he sucks, but is enoying good luck, he's liable to blow up at any given time, which is what happened to you.

That is all.

ohhh, my bad. I didn't intend to reignite a debate that would upset suns...

The initial statement wasn't a shot at him anyway, it was simply Fantasy league banter.

My prediction for Talbot? He will be the Ace of the cleveland Guardians pitching staff in a few years.

Yeah' date=' you just wait for that.[/quote']

The Guardians will have a good lineup in 2013 (I'm expecting) with santana, chisenhall, laporta, and brantley, and donald.

The fact that Talbot leads the league in wins for rookies means absolutely nothing.

Huff has horrible peripherals and weak stuff.

You can dream, i guess.

There are a lot of good rookie pitchers in the league.

Talbot is not one of them. Wins are not indicative of a pitcher's overall performance.

I saw him pitch against the Yankees about a week ago. Lots of rockets, lots of hits, doesn't overpower anyone, and his control isn't particularly good. Just what the scouting report indicates.

That's a lame excuse. I'm talking specifically about his performance. He doesn't have good control. And for what it's worth, he only gave up three earned runs against the Yankees and pitched into the 7th (got one out), meaning you don't even know the actual outing i'm talking about. The point is, he doesn't have good control, as evidenced by that outing and his overall stats, meaning he's usually behind hitters, and doesn't have the stuff to compensate for his inability to throw quality strikes. His luck is bound to run out.
