Konerko is gone after the season, so I could definitely see them going after Gonzalez. But I don't see the White Sox dealing Beckham. His bat and upside are way too valuable, especially now that he's moved to 2B.

Their best prospects are Dan Hudson, Tyler Flowers, and Jared Mitchell.

CWS system is thin after the Peavy trade. So a deal might have to include Beckham. But I wouldn't trade him either. He looks legit. And his numbers will play up better coming from 2B instead of 3B.

I think Prince Fielder stands a good chance of ending up in Boston. Scott Boras is his agent. Boston will have an opening at DH so his defensive skills won't hurt them as much. Yes, a slick fielding, slick hitting 1B or 3B would be preferrable, but Fielder appears to be a better hitter than Gonzalez and he's younger.

I want Flowers to get to the big leagues soon' date=' so I can see what kind of signs the fans come up with at away games.[/quote']You'll get your chance either at the trade deadline or (more likely) in 2011. Pierzynski is in the last year of his contract and in all likelihood will not be re-signed.

There is no chance of Beckham being traded. I think Kenny Williams would trade his own son (who is a Sox farmhand BTW) before he'd trade "Bacon".*

*"Bacon" is what some of us White Sox fans call Beckham because that's what it sounds like when Ozzie says his name.

This will make the price go up for Gonzalez.

That's what I thought at first, but then again, what happens if the White Sox make the Padres an offer that's not as good as what the Red Sox would offer and they balk at the thought of adding any more to their deal? Hoyer might realize he's asking for too much considering A-Gon's gonna leave in a two years anyways.

I wouldn't be apposed to bringing Fielder in.

Dunno, think they might notice?

On the other hand, if his knees bear his weight as he gets older, Fielder is a prototypical Boston slugger type, with his brash, demonstrative style, it's how we've pretty much always separated ourselves from the sham that is Yankee professionalism, so I'm all for bringing him in.

Both players would take a mountain of talent going the other way, especially with the Brewers considering themselves a contending team. The CWS would and should part with Beckham, IMO, if they got the opportunity to not only get AdGon, but lock him up. Beckham looks like he has a solid future, but is he a lock to have a .950OPS with 40 homers? Probably not. Especially in a wide open AL Central where Ozzie is gonna work hard to compete.

Regardless, if anyone here thought the sox would be the only ones in on Adrian Gonzalez, then you're crazy. There will be some 8-10 teams making bids for him, some just inflating the price, others actually getting into it. It's gonna take a mountain of prospects especially this season to get him out of San Diego.

Two festively plump, nonchalant and melaninally advantaged lefties who can't field? Other than age and potential steriods it seems close enough to me. Maybe it'll be like we signed Ortiz in 2003 all over again.

Nah, it won't at all be like signing Ortiz in 2003. When we got Big Papi in 2003 he hadn't broken out yet because Minnesota had mishandled the big guy. We got a bargain on Papi. We'd be paying full market rates for Fielder.

When you bear in mind that Carlos Pena may be a FA, I'm not sure shelling out the talent price for Fielder would be a slam dunk.

Adam Dunn will probably be have his sentence in Washington suspended for good behavior as well.

Adam Dunn would be a great fit. Its kinda funny how people fawn over Adrian Gonzalez, but Dunn has proven to be the more consistent hitter. He strikes out a MASSIVE amount. He also walks over 100 times every single season. He will hit close to 40 homers in any stadium since his power is ridiculous. And he's pretty durable, having played 150+ games 7 of the last 8 seasons. If its all about defense, then I think he can make up for it with the bat. Pena is like a Dunn-lite. A bit less power, a bit less walks, similar BA. He's also be a good fit, but I think Dunn is better. Granted, Pena makes up for that small dropoff with better D. Dunn is a frickin butcher in the field

Then we probably get a first round pick out of him. Nice way to say goodbye.

If you offer him arbitration, he's gonna accept it. Guys with his questions, at his age, with his injury histories dont get $12 million. Hideki Matsui outplayed him by a lot last yr and got only $6 million.

I'd go to Dunn if we have a 3B and are mostly looking for a full time DH, to Pena if Beltre flames out and Lowell is gone, and we need to slide Youks over and bring in a guy who can cover 1B defensively.

Actually though, there's no particular reason we can't have both.

3B: Youks

1B: Pena

DH: Dunn

A backup 3B might be advisable, but is not strictly speaking necessary.

That'd be a hell of a middle of an order

And if you can add a power-hitting LF to that, it gets even better.

If the Sox wait it out, Fielder may only cost money. I would wager he is hitting the open market. Boras isn't one to avoid the Free Agency market.

Not next year he won't. How long are we going to be plugging in substandard CIF's waiting for the pipe dream?

"Tell me you didn't just say that."

Kenny Williams would be fired on the spot for making that trade.

It's not impossible. He doesn't have to hit at Adgon's level* to be as valuable as Adgon.

2B >>>> 1B

* (read: The level he's produced at for exactly one season)

Substandard CIF's? Please explain.
