Youk is not gonna hit third if we have Gonzo and Holliday.

Big if, but you're right. Holliday is an ideal 3rd hitter.

Regardless of stadium' date=' if Gonzalez catches up to a bard fastball and hits it on the good part of the bat, its probably gone.[/quote']

Prolly not a great chance of him hitting it perfect. ANd stadium matters. Yankee Stadium Coors Field But Petco i take my chances. you saw the chart from earlier in this thread right.

As for this thread, WTF happened? I step away for a couple hours and come back and it's an incoherent flame war. Is the ban-hammer broken?

Yes, I saw the chart, but you have to understand that Gonzalez is crazy good and still managed 40+ homers while playing 81 games at this park, thats amazing and he is still very dangerous even with a terrible park.

Why this is true, I think I should get a second chance, I stopped acting stupid and I believe I had a legit argument.

What happened was this guy came in with the intention of trolling, proof is in his name. Threw some racial slurs around, and wasn't banned. He changed his attitude, and is now arguing legitimately. Whether this board wants to keep him around is up to them, but his argument is legit, and he seems to be on good behavior.

Yeah, but you can't hold it against people when you join up with your name, and then your first handful of posts are basically retardation in text format.

I think I should be banned, but maybe not forever?

Eh, the topic's deleted, the one that you started with the racist s***, but I dunno. Not up to me. I think we can have a civilized discussion from here on.

Pretty insane what he has done on the road. For his 4 years in SD, he has hit 46 homers at Petco vs 84 homers on the road.

Another thing that makes me want him: his RISP production. I checked his RISP line and I like it: .294, .407, .527, .934

Theo, get this man however you can.

Wow, thats pretty insane split, now imagine him playing around 100 games at hitters parks such as Fenway, camden yards and yankee stadium. if we acquire Even if Bay/Holliday aren't signed and we keep Ellsbury and Buchholz, Im still very confident in this team heading into next year.

However, question: If we kept Buchholz and Ellsbury how much would we be giving up? Westmoreland, Kelly? More? Less?

Posted
We'd have to give up Buchholz I'm sure, but I'm fine with that. Give up Buchholz and Kelly, add in Lars Anderson, and maybe someone else, and that should do it. Adrian Gonzalez in Boston, as well as NYS, I could easily see him hitting 50 home runs, and with the lineup, driving in many more than he has.

Yeah, I love Buchholz and our prospects, but none of them would be as fun as watching Gonzalez in this lineup. Gonzalez/Youk/Vmart/Drew good god.

That's a really dangerous lineup.

I mean, even without Buchholz, we've got the best rotation in baseball, no argument about that. And trading for Gonzalez automatically makes us probably the best offense in baseball. Plus, we have very good defense on the team, and arguably the best bullpen in baseball. We'd be very, very competitive with the Yankees next year if this went down.

Imagine how fun it'd be watching him play at NYS.

Homeruns hit by Adrian Gonzales against LHP in 2009:

04/09/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Ohman, Will LAD PETCO Park

05/13/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Lilly, Ted CHC Wrigley Field

05/13/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Lilly, Ted CHC Wrigley Field

05/22/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Cotts, Neal CHC PETCO Park

05/25/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Davis, Doug ARI Chase Field

05/31/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD De La Rosa, Jorge COL Coors Field

06/02/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Bastardo, Antonio PHI PETCO Park

06/23/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Olson, Garrett SEA Safeco Field

08/13/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Parra, Manny MIL Miller Park

09/09/09 Gonzalez, Adrian SD Zito, Barry SF AT&T Park

Source: Adrian Gonzales Hit Tracker.

As you can see by the above list, only 3 of the 10 HR's Gonzalez hit against LHP were launched at Petco Park, so his platoon issues are extremely magnified by playing half his games at said venue.

Plus this, which i found thanks to you:

http://daigo.org/contents_images/2009/gonzalez-2009flyouts.jpg

Gonzo's splits vs LHP away from home:

.277/.336/.496 : .832 OPS.

Source: Mlb.com Adrian Gonzales double-situational splits.

This confirms my theory.

Since the thread got a bit sidetracked, i'm quoting this so that if anyone that hasn't checked the thread before does it now, he can see the stats brought up about the likely increase of his stats at Fenway, and findings on his platoon issues.

Posted

I referenced it once the argument starting becoming more legitimate, but it still remained about Gonzalez in all fairness.

I think this all definitely says his LHP splits would improve significantly playing at such a hitters park. I think he'd approach 50 jacks in Boston, honestly.

That Fenway overlay looks off. Fenway is 380 to straight away RF, and goes out to 383 at the corner of the bullpen in RCF. The 378 at Petco should be just about even with the Fenway overlay.

Hadn't thought about that, but it seems about correct in the LF area, which is the point i was more emphatically trying to illustrate.

Thoughts?

Most of those homers were to right, as well. I think the advantage of Fenway still stands, although, maybe not as significantly as I thought before?
Posted
With that chart you're looking at possibly an extra 8 to 14 HRs depending on the Monster.

Not really. Some of them are going to be Fenway doubles too. And the height of the wall may take a couple away as well.
