Vic catches 4-5 games a week...and DH's for Ortiz vs. LHP.. Ortiz has become an auto-out. Youks slides to 3rd.

Gotta love Cameron's 1.500 OPS in 13 Official AB's vs. CC... couple that with his career DOMINANCE of all LHP (except Andy Pettite who KILLS HIM!) and Hermida's success against RHP and we have a very nice platoon.

Of course this is contingent on the Red Sox acquring Gonzalez. I think you all know I have a friend in the Sox organization. I am not saying he is Theo's right hand man... but he has given me some clues in the past... I called him and asked him about Gonzalez to Sox and he was very evasive... told me not likely.... but that names HAVE been discussed with Hoyer and the name are the same names SOSH website is reporting... which makes sense since a few SOSH members actually WORK for the Sox... one is a scout..one is a statistical consultant. At the end of our conversation I asked him what the chances of landing Gonzo were and he said 50/50! That did not jive with the negativity he had showed throughout our convo... I think there is definitely something brewing and given the Pads financial standing and lack of offensive thump... I could see Ellsbury or Westmoreland roaming the spacious CF in Petco for many years to come...

This deal is going to get done...and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ellsbury involved given the Cameron acquisition... I would then not be surprised to see the Sox make a big push for Carl Crawford next year to play CF.....paving the way for Westy to take over for JD in right.

Ellsbury is the kind of charismatic, young, star that Hoyer could use to justify getting rid of the wildly popular Gonzo. Ellsbury or Westy would be PERFECT fits for PETCO... they can both FLY. I see Ellsbury or Westy/Kelly/Bowden/and Lars Anderson getting this done.

That's only 13 AB's, though... And Hermida is only marginally better than Cameron against RHP in terms of career OPS.

I think it's going to be Buchholz, along with Kelly and Anderson personally. I don't like the thought of going this year without Ellsbury, and the rumors I've heard have all said that it would be either Kelly or Anderson.

Ellsbury is only starting to scratch the surface with his talent. Last year he was much more consistent at the plate. He speed is a unique weapon for the Red Sox who have never had a guy like this. Every hit is essentially at least a double with his stealing ability. With Pedroia hitting behind him, he'll be standing on 3B with less than 2 out all the time for VMart.

As for the lineup, against righties I think the bottom 3 will be Lowell(if he's still here), Cameron and Scutaro. Against lefties it will be Lowell, Cameron, Varitek and Scutaro. Let's not forget that the lineup will get shorter on those days when Tito finds it necessary to keep Kotchman fresh. Neither of those lineups is good enough to beat the Yankees in the regular season or the playoffs. We still do not have a reliable cleanup hitter, and the lineup will be much weaker without Bay. They need another big bat.

Agreed 100%. This is where A-Gon comes in. Add Gonzalez and conclude the offseason. If we were to get Gonzalez, I'd say that brings us from around last year's lineup, to a lineup that's much better than last year's lineup. Last year, we didn't have a true cleanup hitter, either.

I tend to agree. Ellsbury is the one legitimate speed threat we have on this club and I don't see how moving him in a deal for AGon makes us better overall. Better in terms of power yes. But having the ability to go first to third on a consistent basis is important in today's game.

Posted
As it stands right now, we have one guy with killer speed, and no guys with clean-up hitter power. I just feel that losing him creates a definite hole in the lineup.
Posted
Also, there really is no other speed in the lineup. Drew runs well but is not a base stealing threat. Pedroia's speed is average. The rest are plodders except for Cameron who should be hitting down in the lineup. A slow team without a big power guy will find it very very hard to score runs consistently. It will take them 3 hits to score all the time. Mix in a few slumps along the way for the guys at the top of the order and the offense could hit some real dry spells.

Yup. Don't think giving up Ellsbury's the right choice. Buchholz, Kelley, Anderson would be the preferred route, but if it took Westy, I'd be willing to part with him as well.

My god. Are you kidding me? That lineup is funny as hell since a third of the players in it aren't even ours yet. Really, dude? Really?

You don't have Ramirez or AG.

It's like me making a Yankee lineup like this.

Jeter

Damon

Arod

Tex

Holliday

Granderson

Posada

Cano

Swisher

The rotation would be

CC

AJ

Pettitte

Sheets

Wang

The bullpen would be

Robertson

Aceves

Capps

Marte

Hughes

Joba

Mo

Max Ramirez is a backup and might not be in the majors.

No. Cameron is definitely not confirmed. A twitter post should never ever suffice as confirmation of anything.

A-Gon, again, not yet.

Ramirez, again, not yet. That trade isn't even going through. So, 3-9 (well I guess 3/9.5) or something because you can't make up your mind about the catching situation.

An agreement with Cameron has been reached, there's over a 90% change the deal goes through. It's only pending a physical.

Per the Associated Press, Boston has reached a tentative agreement on a two-year contract with Cameron, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. The deal is subject to a physical, the person said on condition of anonymity because the agreement was not yet final.

He explicitly acknowledged it.

Yes' date=' I saw that. But, condition of physical... which as we've seen, can be all the difference. Let Cameron pass that physical if he can.[/quote']

Chances are, he will.

Also, he wants to go with a 7 man lineup against righties. Not a good beginning for our new poster.

He really did put 7? I just thought I was crazy and forgot how to count...
