Pretty much, yeah. Whine all you want to about it, there isn't a lot to choose from from a normal Uribe year, and Hulett's projection. Certainly there isn't millions of dollars worth if difference.

You keep putting your money into these projections for someone who has 75 PA's at the ML level.

That is laughable at best.

Whine about it all you want, Tug Hulett sucks ass.

You know, projections can and have been wrong the other way too. What was Pedroia projected for in the 2006-2007 offseason?

The projections got Carlos Pena's breakout in 2007 right too, although they understated it quite a bit.

Hulett's got the fundamentals to be a half decent hitter in the bigs, and I'd rather trust an unknown with some upside than go with a known failure, or a guy like Uribe who you have no idea what you're going to get.

Tell me what exactly about his performance tells you he can be "Half-decent hitter"?

Is it the AAA numbers at age 24 and 25?

Theo seems to be getting more bang for the buck these days...

Scutaro .379 OBP for $5 million

vs.

Drew .392 OBP for $14 million

JFC ....is it possible to have 1 thread where no ones bashes Drew ?

Could be Hulett. He's got a half decent mL track record. On the other hand, could definitely be Scutaro himself, dependent on other roster moves or midseason progress from Lowrie.

As for the Scutaro signing... blah. Lots and lots of BLAH.

Um I doubt they gave him a potential 3 years/$18 million contract to be their utility infielder

Guys Doiji has hyped:

Mike Lowell (Over Mark f***ing Teixeira).

Hunter Jones (Lol really?)

Jed Lowrie (He'll be healthy someday)

Nick Green (Well he IS a stud)

Tug Hulett (Tug who?)

And this is just the top of my head, but i'm sure the trend is easily noticeable.

Wait you forgot when he was clamoring for the Sox to get Kenji Johjima to be their starting catcher

.984 FLD% and only 10 errors.

Fielding percent and error amount is the absolutely worst way to rate a fielder's performance.

1.0 UZR/150, 4.3 RF/G. Right around league average. Not even top 5.

We gave up a first and a comp in the Lugo signing' date=' right? If so, this is definitely the worst signing since then. If not, I don't even know.[/quote']

No, just a first. Nobody loses a compensation pick.

Yeah, that's right. Minor brain fart.

Still, this signing blows.

It's a 2 year 12 million deal, it's not that horrible, the only bad thing was the draft pick, which should not be too big of a deal if we sign other type A's and Bay walks.

Because the draft-pick loss is a part of the system, I think there are times that it is just inevitable. The alternative would be that the Sox just never sign another Type A, or avoid doing so at all costs, which I think they do already.

In deals like this I think it was an unfortunate but necessary part of the deal. Scutaro isn't an exciting player but hopefully he either makes Lowrie expendable or combines with Lowrie to give the Sox production at SS that they haven't seen in awhile.

2 years simply isn't a painful commitment.

Overall, I think this portends them signing other type As.

Actually, the alternative is that we don't piss away first round picks on useless players like Scutaro.

He won't. He's had a single un-terrible season at the plate, and that was last year. He's 34 years old. He's a complete bust waiting to happen and will only serve as the latest installment to our circus of mediocrity at shortstop.

Okay, so just because we might get more first rounders, means that throwing this one away for this clown is a good move? lololololol.ol
