Tiger Woods Sustains "Serious" Injuries in Car Accident

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tiger Woods has been seriously injured in a car wreck in Florida, authorities said Friday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods hit a fire hydrant and a tree as he pulled out of his driveway early Friday in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle.

Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. His condition was not immediately known, though the news release said his injuries were serious.

The airbags in the car did not deploy, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. The newspaper said that airbags typically do not deploy if a vehicle is traveling less than 33 miles per hour.

The highway patrol says the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. However, the highway patrol said the crash was not alcohol-related.

The Orange County Fire Rescue received a call about the accident at 2:28 a.m. ET. The Florida Highway Patrol did not report it until 2 p.m. ET.

Woods Injured in Crash Near Home

Apparently he got into the accident right after leaving his home (at 2am for some reason). They said charges are pending so maybe he got into a fight with his wife.

I saw the skank he had an affair with (I still think his wife is more beautiful) than that overly makeup wearing, collagen lip injected chick from new york that he was supposedly humping.

He's married to a stunning Swedish model, so I guess it's hard to top that.

NWIH drugs weren't involved.

Yep. He's also delaying an interview with the police. Probably to get the drugs out of his system.

I thought that he didn't have to talk to the police if he didn't want to. It happened on private property, no one else was hurt or involved, and once alcohol was ruled out, there wasn't any other reason for the police to be investigating. At least that's what I heard and it made sense.

I think they would have been able to determine if there were drugs in his system at the hospital...?

He doesn't have to talk to them. My money is on this being the result of a domestic dispute, one that he doesn't want to broadcast, as anything he tells the police is public information.

Agreed. I don't think canceling his meetings with the police have anything to do with drugs. He's not required to meet with them, so why would he? I wouldn't either, regardless of what I may or may not have to hide.

He doesn't owe anybody anything but when the mayor of the city coems out and gives a statement about how alcohol"definitely wasn't involved", it makes you question what really went on.

I love how ESPN has come to a total standstill over this. Its understandable when it first happens, but he's been released from the hospital, he appears to be okay, the police say drugs aren't involved, yet they carry on.

After watching the conference today, my opinion of Woods hasn't really changed. If he cheated once then you probably forgive the guy but when you do it 10 times thats just ridiculous. To ruin your marriage is a bad thing, to do it when you have children is even worse. Its gonna tarnish my image of Woods, but I'll still support him because he is the reason why I got into the game of golf. He really messed up his reputation through this whole mess. Once he gets back out on the course and resumes golfing and his charity work, and once he completes his "sex rehab" I think the sponsors will start to come back and people will begin to have faith in him. Like he said in his press conference, his wife won't forgive him through words, but through his actions. I wanted to see Woods back on the course ASAP, but it looks like it will be a while before we see him tee it up again. He probably won't play in the Masters. Once he's back I think most of the fans will be supportive, most golf fans are males and he was so popular before this that I think even if he has some nay sayers his fans will still speak louder than them

Earl Woods was an alleged philanderer, many kids of adulterers become adulterers themselves. I thought Tiger was sincere, we'll see. I don't think his poor choices make him evil or bad, just a moron. Some guys live their entire lives without realizing that the best thing they could have going for them is a loving and loyal wife, and that if they just spent enough time and energy on their marriage that most of the rest of their life would fall right into place.

Joe Kennedy was a serial adulterer, his sons wound up doing exactly what they grew up with as well. Do you write off JFK and RFK based solely on their multiple infidelities?
