Haha, well done.

In all seriousness, to catch a ball hit that hard with no glove would be a difficult task for any of us. I don't think there is anything embarrassing about dropping it.

It really is. I got my hand on a foul ball at Fenway once and it stung for a couple hours after. And in my case, I was in the first few rows and it was a chop foul, Gom's was a laser home run. That's a ridiculously difficult catch.

I'm guessing Hairston is for Swisher. Cabrera really 8 and Hairston 7. i would go reverse order on that one. Melky is better than Hairston. IMO that is the only problem. In this situation go with defense over the offense of Posada.

From the Globe:

Girardi shook it up, benching Swisher and using Hairston based on his past (and long ago) success against Pedro. Meanwhile, he is sitting Posada for personal catcher Jose Molina.

I can't even be mad about last night. Lee was untouchable. We have to find a way to scratch a few runs off of him in his next start or else we could be in some serious trouble. I have a good feeling about tonight though

Just a stroke of luck that the inferior Lee managed to outpitch the vastly superior "better-equipped-to-go-the-distance" Sabathia right?

Thankfully, it doesn't hurt today.

This is my lucky Yankee outfit. 5-1 in the post-season at home. Gray hoodie, Tex jersey, light brown jacket, jeans. If you see a homerun out there again, there I will be.

shouldn't you be at the game already watching some BP or you still working? what time do the gates open during the playoffs?

Take your glove in case you have another opportunity for a WS souvenir.

Gates open at five.

I love the fact that he is playing Hairston based on twenty seven at bats. It should be Hinske.

Defense.

Defense.

There really isn't that big a difference between Swisher, Hinske, and Hairston when it comes to outfield defense. Also, right field is so small in NYS that it becomes even less important.

Hinske looks lost out there sometimes.

Just sayin'.

I agree, but Swisher is horrible as well, and Hairston is not much better. All I'm saying is that I think the defensive difference is marginal at best, so you have to go with what works offensively.

The move would look a lot better had he hit Hairston 9th IMO.

I agree' date=' but they can't afford that luxury with AJ's personal catcher in there.[/quote']

If Molina slaps a crucial hit tonight, i'm calling you old-timer until i die.

If Molina slaps a crucial hit tonight, I would not mind you calling me an old-timer in the least.

I can only hope Pedro brings his A+ game tonight.

Prediction: Hairston knocks himself silly running into the OF wall and Matt Stairs legs out an inside the park HR followed by a massive coronary that kills him. The game is suspended until Sunday out of respect. When it resumes, the Phillies win, but Charlie Manuel can't remember who should be playing because he lost the original lineup card..

Somehow the most unlikely thing in there is Matt Stairs getting an inside the park HR to RF in NYS. Other than that, everything seems plausible.
