That's true, but the Yankees really had this game. They didn't have it like the Angels had it 23 years ago, but they were in control late.

This one really stung. I can't even sleep. We need to win Saturday with Andy on the mound. As well as C.C. has done and as much as I love him right now, a game 7 would make me a nervous wreck, and I don't think I could handle that.

Burnett has been horrid inspite of his ahh dominance and its a good thing that the ancient Petite throws next rather than put all that pressure on CC due to his pressure cooker outings from the past.

Theres 2 games at home so they really should handle this but they also got Girardi on the run being lambasted in the media due to his handling of the bullpen and he dont know whether to s***, whistle or wind his watch...They thought it was over after 6 in the 7th, I sure did but they went away from their usual strategy and Joe,ever the thinker,avoided Phil Hughes long enuff till he was rattled.

Give the Angels credit, they came back and got it done, these guys are pretty good and its also nice to see Vlad Guererro show up in crunch time for a change, this has surely been his best playoff.

You think so? I don't agree, nor do I disagree. I liked the diea of C.C. going in Game 7 only because it puts him back on normal rest, and he matches up against Weaver. But you might be right, it might be better to send Andy out there in Game 7 (which would also extend his rest, which may be good or bad) with all the pressure and let C.C. try to finish the job tomorrow with Andy to fall back on. Good point. I wonder if Girardi will make the switch.

If it gets to a game seven, things would have really snowballed on the Yankees, and I would like the Angels chances. You do what McKeon did, and you go for the kill.

If game six is played on Saturday, I'm almost positive he'll go to Pettitte. I'm really hoping for a rain out, which is a possibility.

IMHO the Yankees f***ed this up before the ALCS even started. Why would you leave Hinske off the roster for the ALCS? A big bat with loads of playoff experience. I would much rather see him batting in the ninth with bases loaded than Swisher. Swisher has been horrible. Gardner should get the start in center tomorrow night, batting ninth with Melky in right and Damon in left. Swisher needs to sit, he's killing the Yankees right now.

They're not going to pinch hit Hinske (.666 career OPS vs. LHPs) in that spot. Whether he is on the roster or not, it wouldn't have mattered.

 

With that being said, I do think they should have taken him over Guzman. If they make the World Series, I expect them to correct that.

It's not quite like having two leadoffs hitters back to back when one of the guys has a .345 OBP. However, I agree with you, I would mind if Gardner started in center for game sixth and Melky moved over to right.

Yeah, in the inning when the Yankees scored all their runs Swisher made two outs. Leaving Burnett in there might not have mattered if someone else had been hitting there instead of Swisher. It seems like he's come up in a ton of important situationa and not been able to come through. He needs to sit down for a bit...who knows, he might be able to put something together coming off the bench for a big at bat or something.

It's a no-brainer IMO to go with CC in Game 6 if there's a rain out. You can't plan for the WS if you're not in it yet.

The question isnt whether to pitch CC or not. CC is pitching one game if the series goes the distance, period. And if he throws in game 6, he isnt coming back for game 7. So, you get to use him once. Seeing as the MLB is likely to call tonight's game, I would rather see if Pettitte can take down Saunders at home and then matchup CC with a tired Lackey than go for it with CC then having to put up Pettitte vs Lackey in a must win game 7. Cause CC>Lackey and Saunders. Pettitte vs Saunders is a pretty even match. But Pettitte vs Lackey is a clear disadvantage. Pitching CC in game 7 gives us at least a wash in both pitching matchups. Throwing him in game 6 and losing, god forbid, sets us up with a disadvantage in game 7.
