We all know what the outcome is going to be here, but we are like idiots that watch a movie over and over and are still wondering what the ending will be.

The Twins were not very selective there. Can't really blame Young because he hit it hard' date=' but Gomez had an awful AB.[/quote']

Gomez has the physical skills to be a 5 tool player, but he's a complete numbskull.

Predictable, the horseface douche ends it.

YES! The Yankees are very fortunate. I know you guys see me complaining about the umpires a lot, but I'll do it no matter who is benefitting from the call. The umpiring in this league is pathetic.

Teixeira hit that ball 318 feet and 1 inch

I'll take it. What a game!!!!

We got some breaks, missed some opportunities, made some mistakes, got some big hits, and all in all it turns out to be another big win in the Bronx! We're bout ready to close the doors on the Metrodome (....well, for baseball at least)!

Gotta giv it up to the yanks bullpen and arod this evening.

Some young guys stepped up and stared into the fire and didnt blink.

Joe Nathan continues to blink in that inferno every October but thats Minnesotas problem.

after staring down at a tied series and with the bronx faithful?? booing for 75% of the game these guys battled back and just made my October mortgage payment and a week in Miami Springs come November. Its been a pretty good playoff so far for yours triuly and I think a lot of demons are going to be exorcised by this team when its all said and done in a couple weeks.

Peteys pitching in Coors tomorrow and I need a new car.

Congrats **********s, i think this is the year for NY and Im banking on it.

I'm with you and the smart money, but I'll never congratulate a Yankee fan. You must be one of those classy Sox fans.

Completely agree. I'd much rather see the umpires get it right at the expense of the Yankees as opposed to constantly worrying that they'll get hosed due to sheer incompetence.

Whatever the wrong decision is' date=' Shitenhire will make it.[/quote']

You're an idiot if you think Gardenhire is the reason they can't beat the Yankees.

He doesn't help the situation, and watch with the idiot talk. I realize that you still are bitter about losing to me in the Baseball Fantasy, but knock it off jerk.

I happen to like and respect Ron Gardenhire. I don't like you. Sorry I hurt your wittle feelings.
It's got nothing to do with feelings. It's got to do with respecting the rules and not making unprovoked personal attacks. You are a very immature person to hold grudges for more than a month for losing a silly contest. I guess your ass is still sore from the ass-raping that my team administered to yours. So you like a baseball manager and dislike an internet poster without ever having met either one. What aloser.

Not making unprovoked attacks? Really? Because I seem to remember you and SFOC making a lot of them towards me. f***ing hypocrite. Let me reiterate. I don't care that I lost to you. What pissed me off was how classless you were about it. In summation, Clint, f*** off.

You shouldn't have declared victory with a third of the season to go and you shouldn't have accused SFOC of cheating. He has run many contests throughout the years on this forum where he put up all the prize money out of his own pocket. Also, I never attacked you in an unprovoked manner. I talked some smack when I beat you, but never attacked you. If you are you a sensitive little sissy that can't take the trash talk that goes along with fantasy Sports, then you shouldn't play.

It's incredible. Watching this game tonight, both times Minnesota got a lead, as bad as I wanted to believe they would hold it, deep down my heart knew they wouldn't. Even when they loaded the bases with none out in extras, I wondered how they would screw it up. This was really vintage October Twins tonight. Nothing more to say. And I hate to say it, but nobody is beating the Yankees.

As much as I'm enjoying your guys's little argument here and want to stay out of it so I can continue to enjoy it, I have to agree with Keeper. Ron Gardenhire has been a great manager for the Twins. In his 8 years he's won 5 division titles with a revolving door of players. So many good homegrown players have left or been traded away over the course of his years, but the Twins have been so good at re-developing and replacing those players that came up through the system with more players coming up through the system, and they've always been successful and often times exceeded expectations. He's done a great job of instilling his players fundamentals, a winning attitude, and the right way to play the game. I think because of the market they're in and their lack of postseason success he's under-appreciated for how well he's done there. He's been a model of stability, as was Tom Kelly before him for 16 seasons. Something about the Twins, but with their resources; or lack thereof, they just always seem to do it right. They're a very well-run organization.

Now with all that said that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying beating up on them in this series (so far), as we usually do when we match up in the postseason. But they're a great team and despite their unfortunate fate at the hands of the Yankees deserve a lot of respect for what they were able to accomplish this year. I think Gardenhire is going to be very much in the running for Manager of the Year.

Interesting tidbit from the Slidingintohome blog..

By now we've probably all heard about the blown call in the top of the 11th on Joe Mauer's fly ball down the left field line. If you haven't, Mauer hit a fly that landed about a foot fair and bounced into the seats. Instead of getting a ground-rule double, umpire Phil Cuzzi ruled it foul. The Twins would eventually load the bases in the inning, but somehow David Robertson was able to escape the inning without letting the Twins on the board. Then Mark Teixeira, a switch-hitter batting righty, led off the bottom half of the inning with a walk-off homer just over the wall in left.

Well, on October 9th, in 1996, exactly 13 years ago, the infamous Jeffrey Maier play took place. You remember, the home run Jeter hit in game 1 of the 1996 ALCS, a ball that should have been ruled fan interference but instead was ruled a HR by umpire Richie Garcia.

But that's not all. That game in 1996 was also won by the Yankees in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the 11th, when Bernie Williams, a switch-hitter batting righty, led off and took Randy Myers deep to left for the game winning home run. The time of the game in 1996 was 4 hours and 23 minutes, while the time of last night's game was 4 hours, 22 minutes.

Honestly, this probably all means nothing (or maybe it means the ghosts are back), and is just a random coincidence, but it's still odd.

The umpire made an awful call, I'm not excusing that. However, there is one thing that should be taken into account. If Mauer is on second, instead of first, Kubel would be intentionally walked. The Twins would be in the exact same situation, first and second, nobody out, for Cuddyer. If you look at it that way, the call had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the game.
