Thrashers are done, Philly did win, which puts them up a point over the B's for the 7th spot, and we are 2 back of Montreal for 6th. Would be huge if the B's could win tonight, I hope Buffalo takes it easy b/c they have the division wrapped up

Seidenberg's done for 8 weeks with his wrist laceration.

Wow. Killer blow. Not that I thought we were going anywhere, but dude was really playing well since the trade. I can't get over all the injuries this season. Ridiculous man.

I'm with ya on that. With all these injuries combined with how many players who are underachieving it's a bit surprising they are most likely going to make the playoffs.

I'm just happy knowing that this season let us know we are going to have a young, top flight goaltender and possibly a very good rookie next year.

I hope the Bruins re-sign Siedenberg b/c the guy has been great since the trade. We need to get Wideman's lame ass off the top defensive line. I can't wait for an 8th place finish and and sweep by the Caps over our pathetic asses. What a disappointing season....

The Bruins are too beat up on defense right now to avoid Wideman on the top line. It's either him or Boychuk right now, although it doesn't matter because they are going to see big minutes.

It's not going to be easy to resign him him. We have other guys who need to be inked as well.

That blows. He's been one of their best players since the trade.

Rooting for the Rangers tonight. Really need to see Toronto stay in 29th place.

NY leading 3-0 after 1

You were rooting for the one team that could keep Boston out of the playoffs?

Ryan Miller was also not on the ice at the morning skate. Ruff said he is not hurt and it was just a day of rest. Patrick Lalime returning from flu-like symptoms which kept him out of practice on Wednesday. He will start tonight and likely Sunday in New Jersey

I want Seguin of those three. IMHO he allows us the best franchise flexibility, especially if he plays wing. He can either go to wing, or he can stay at center and we can trade whichever of Bergeron, Savard, Krejci or Sobotka it makes the most sense to move. (package Sobotka to get Ryder out of town?)

I rank them:

Hall

Seguin/Fowler

I think Hall is on another plane than the other two and the only one who can have an immediate impact next season. If by some miracle he is there, they have to take him.

FWIW, they just released the final central scouting rankings before the draft and Seguin was ranked #1. There has been talk that the Oilers could take Seguin or Fowler over Hall as they have a few very good scoring winger prospects that are about to crack the team. It's not that far-fetched IMO that Hall winds up a Bruin, as much as I'd hate to see it.

BTW, Patrick Lalime starting for Buffalo tonight so the B's avoid Ryan Miller.

Yes.

Toronto finishing 29th is more important than the Bruins making the playoffs.

I still think Boston makes the playoffs anyway.

Boston's biggest need is a scoring winger so that being said' date=' you should want Taylor Hall of the three.[/quote']

Don't tell me what I should want. Seguin is a natural centerman but he can function on the wing and brings a skillset I think is honestly better, if only by a little bit. There are plenty of other ways to add talented wings beyond spending our very best pick on one

I see picking centers being somewhat like picking shortstops in baseball -- just because they play there now doesn't mean they wind up there and if they have to move, they have somewhere to move to where they'd still be useful

Wings are more like drafting corner outfielders. If they can't hack it there they have nowhere else to go.

So you wanna use a top 5 pick and change his natural position to a position he can "function" in when there's a better player already at that position who fits the need of the team better? Ok then....

I'd take that objection more seriously if I knew for sure that we'd get Savard back at 100% next year. It might just could be that Seguin would be a desperate necessity at center.

Regardless, you have one talented guy who can play wing, and another similarly talented guy who can play center and wing, going for a bit of extra flexibility strikes me as a good idea.

Getting a top line center is much harder than a top line winger. Seguin is a more complete player, better in the defensive end and will battle for the puck, plus he put up those points without a supporting cast like Hall has, but the if you look at the playoffs Hall is dominating on his own

I could not disagree more about those pining for Seguin. Hall is the choice. He's not like Kessel who won't go in the corners to battle for the puck.

Next Tuesday is the biggest sporting event in Boston no one is talking about.

Agreed.

What are the odds Boston tries to move from #2 to #1(assuming the lottery works that way) so they can land Hall? And what would that take?

Definite signs that both Wideman and Hunwick are beginning to play better and rise to the challenge the absence of superior defensemen presented for them.

If the Wideman and Hunwick we see in the playoffs are the ones we've seen over roughly the last week, our playoff hopes look just a bit brighter -- or perhaps "less dim" would be the more uncontroversial term.
