I'd hate to press the panic button so soon' date=' but we have GOT to beat the Isles tomorrow.[/quote']

You're kidding right?

We aren't anywhere NEAR must-win territory. it's virtually impossible to have a must-win game any time in the first third of the season.

Definitely not a must win, but if Thomas in net, it's pretty critical for him to have a good game, or else we could be seeing a steady dose of Tuukka Rask sooner than we all think.

It will take at least a month before I would expect a Tim Thomas slump to even start affecting the usage patterns. Not because Julien is stupid or slow to respond to new situations but simply because that's how long it ought to take to establish that there really is a problem as opposed to a fluke or a bad run.

Well you're right about one thing. There's a long season of hockey ahead of us.

I'll look forward to Thomas getting back on form towards the middle of the season and getting my lolwut moments quoting some of the panic posts in this thread.

It's not like I was going to write them off, but if we had lost to the Islanders at home to fall to 1-3-0 (all being at home), yeah, I'd be pretty pissed/panic-ish. Thankfully a huge 3rd period prevented that scenario from playing out. What's with the matinee on Monday? Don't see that very often.

Makes sense. Kid had a good game, reward him with another start, and "push" Thomas a bit. It's a tactic that works when Timmy is your #1.

Bruins need to start playing when the game starts, not 40 minutes later.

You could get a bowling ball past Tuuka on the top shelf.

I thought Boychuck looked very good. He was Johnny on the spot a lot to keep the puck in the offensive zone, especially in the critical second period.

he and Hunwick seem to work well together. just FWIW.

And now Lucic out 4-6 weeks. What a start to the season...

To be fair' date=' he's still a kid. I think he blossoms at some point down the road, but it's not idea to pay a guy this much while he's developing as opposed to after he establishes himself. [b']His wreckless style of hitting and being intimidating is awesome, we all love it, but it leads to increased injury risk.[/b] It's also a lot for a guy who loves to grab 5 minutes of pine in the penalty box.

I don't think the $4 million payscale kicks in until next year though, which isn't a bad thing.

s*** happens but it was pretty easy to see it coming. Guys will be coming more and more at him in the future as he kicks the s*** out of more and more guys.

Love the Kobasew deal. Time to see if SOB can stick and I'm excited to see Marchand.

Wish this happened in the offseason BEFORE losing Kessel, but I digress...

Savard out 4-6 weeks w/ a broken foot.

It wasn't hard to see that this years team wasn't going to replicate last years. It was IMO a fluke that we stayed as healthy as we did.

They said he did it in a preseason practice but only recently re- aggravated the injury.

The Paille deal makes a lot more sense now. On the surface, that deal looked like a typical Chiarelli head scratcher after a brilliant move to get rid of Chucky, but now it should be OK insurance in the meantime, until they get Lucic and Savard back.

Paille's strength is supposedly the PK so we'll see if we can finally stop some powerplays.
