I like Lucic a lot, people here love the guy so everyone overvalues him to death. He brings a lot to the table past scoring the puck, which is terrific, but at this point in his career, $4 million is pretty unjustifiable.

I agree, and called the Lucic extension because he's "the typical Bruin".

 

He better score 20 to justify that contract. I have my doubts as to him doing so, because he plays with the best setup guy in the game and didn't sniff that mark last season.

To be fair, he's still a kid. I think he blossoms at some point down the road, but it's not idea to pay a guy this much while he's developing as opposed to after he establishes himself. His wreckless style of hitting and being intimidating is awesome, we all love it, but it leads to increased injury risk. It's also a lot for a guy who loves to grab 5 minutes of pine in the penalty box.

 

I don't think the $4 million payscale kicks in until next year though, which isn't a bad thing.

MAYBE if Kessel was here we'd have scored more than we have in the stinkers (66% of our games) and the games would have been different.

Kessel can't save Thomas.

 

Especially because he's, you know, still recovering from surgery. Kessel is entirely neutral in the offseason analysis until he's actually healthy.

Id like to blame Phil Kessels absence for this but I cant.

The nightmare vs DC and last nights humiliating effort are a f***ing embarassment.

I watched Ovechkin come in from the top of the face off circle and go thru Lucic as if he wasnt even there to score, the problem there was Lucic was playing behind the guy outfront and got shanghai'd from behind, he was completely oblivious to the best player on ice 10 feet behind him.

They sucked, its early on and we know this but come on, the goalie looks like he's in the methadone program and the defense is shaky at best.

They make a huge stride forward last year then get bounced by Carolina easily.

This year they're all a year older and the youngsters have more experience yet theyre coming out of the gate with a blaise attitude and uninspired play.

He's looked like s*** all three games. His positioning is terrible and it looks like his reaction time is slower. I won't mention rebound control because it's never been Thomas's strength anyway.

And even if that's true it's nowhere NEAR time to panic yet. And you know it.

 

I mean -- an older player takes a few games to get back on form. We've sure never seen that before.

The B's aren't as bad as they have looked.

 

They also aren't (and weren't) as good as they seemed last year. They overachieved last season, they're more like a 4 or 5 seed, which means if they play out their asses they can be near the top of the conference but if they play below their ability they could be scrapping for a playoff spot.

 

I think they'll right the ship and end up about where they belong...but I don't see them as a Cup contender.

Rask should get the next start, and probably he'd have gotten it anyway, so we'll see what we have there.
