By the way I don't agree. Not because I so desperately want to fit in, but because you can't possibly experience the pain unless you were a fan at the time, so in effect what you are doing is saying you can only be a red sox fan if you turn back time. It's just typical of the kind of rubbish that fans come out with in their attempt to retain exclusivity when totally forgetting that the idea of sport is to INCLUDE not exclude.

The games I can watch I do watch, I think it is important though to understand a team's history, not live it though as that's impossible.

I think you misunderstood me. I was suggesting to genuinely try and learn as much as you can about the teams history. Taking the time to do that would help you understand the franchise. I wasn't trying to take this piss out of you.

I have a great respect for the team and I will always cheer for them against the Yankees but that isn't enough. All I said was one of the things you should do being a new fan of the team, is to read up on the history of the team. You know, star players, big games that sort of thing. Agree, my favorite thing to do is go to fenway, show up a little early, drink some beer, eat a dog and mingle with the best baseball fans in the world. The park is old, so what....one day when they replace it, you will miss it and the atmosphere that goes with it.

I agree with that, Fenway is probably one of the most known Parks/Stadiums in any sport. It's got a certain aura about it and that brings the atmosphere.

 

It's very similar to my Soccer/Football teams stadium Anfield. Anfield is pretty old and only holds just over 46,000 people, but it's very well known for it's great atmosphere. We're in the process of planning a new much bigger better stadium but do I want to move, no I don't. Give me Anfield any day as no matter how good the new stadium is, it just won't be the same.
