Kotchman is a lot cheaper next year. LaRoche will be a FA. Epstein said they made the deal for LaRoche knowing the Braves were interested in a flip for Kotchman.

So what are the chances LaRoche comes back this offseason? Any at all?

LaRoche is awful and expensive.

I'd say about 0% chance.

We have Youk and VMart to play 1B. We don't need LaRoche or Kotchman.

BTW If Tito sits one of our good hitters for Kotchman one more time, I'm gonna slash his tires.

Hasn't Kotchman only started while Bay was hurt or Youk being suspended?

The HR by itself, and I'd say, meh. The HR, the double, the two walks....keep playing him. Don't go apeshit, Tito, and start hitting him 3rd yet, but keep him in the lineup and let him rest against LH starters.

Trade deadline next year.

Assuming Ortiz continues to be "unreliable"...that would be my guess, as well.

Btw, I know Ortiz is just a 'big guy', but frankly, if some of his problem is just getting older, he could put more effort into losing his love handles. <_ i don know if that would really help but do as you get older it harder to carry around extra weight w affecting everything else.>

How much time did the HR buy him?

meh, I still think he doesnt have much in the tank, if we have to play him its not the end of the world but that HR was a fastball left up over the heart of the plate that he was sitting on those mistakes dont happen often from good pitchers, I think we do better with Lowell DHing most of the time, of course we cant do that now with Youk out but Im not impressed that much with tonight performance from Papi.

Not a lot. Sporadic homers are part of the package. They're sort of accounted for. Now let him go on a 1.000 OPS tear or something ridiculous for a month and a half and then he buys himself probably a full year next year in case it happens again.

I agree. If he is still having this sort of an output which lasts til next years trade deadline, he might be done here. Not sure if they would do an all out release, but he wont be receiving full time ABs anymore.

You have to admit that was a big HR last night. Seemed to ignite the team to a win. Maybe he hits better in the lower part of the order. This club ain't done yet, particularly if Buchholz and Tazawa can come through.

What was disturbing to me was Buchholz as a pinch runner. The Sox now find it necessary to have 12 pitchers, with the 1 reliever per inning/100 pitch starter mindset. That means one less bench player, and starting pitchers as pinch runners who don't run the bases very well, as Buchholz showed.

The problem is he isn't juicing anymore. His ability was 100% due to pharmaceuticals.

You are building some bad Karma for yourself. Ortiz will probably stick it right up the ass of Yankee Universe as he usually does.

Papi is teasing. Just when you think he's cooked, he hits a dinger. Then goes back into hibernation for 2 weeks.

I still can't figure that month of June, when he was the old Papi. He should have bottled it.

There are some prime FA's available right now, Karim Garcia is out there along with Wilton Veras. Too bad Theo is asleep at the wheel and slacking.

i always thought it was the backup qb who was the most popular guy in town, not a backup catcher. kottaras sucks. he has more strikeouts than hits. his ability to catch wake is overrated. i don't know why some of you guys have a hard-on for a 25th man on the roster.

karim garcia? wilton veras? wtf?

Mexican Leaguers.... joy.

Wilton Veras flat out sucked in our minor league system and there is nothing to indicate that a second chance is warranted. "tearing it up" to a the tune of a .791 OPS in AAA level competition doesn't impress me. Besides, he had his chance

Good point. Although, I'm pretty sure the TLev level is set with sarcasm, whereas the Dojji level is pure seriousness. I don't know whether to find that funny or sad.
