This is about as good as it gets!

The cards are falling into place for NY. A night after emptying out their pen, the yankees get to send their horse to the hill and hopefully he can continue to pitch deep into the game today. On the flipside, the red sox pen has been counted on heavily

Sunday- 5IP from the pen

Monday- off

Tuesday- 6.2IP from the pen

Wednesday- 2IP from the pen

Thursday- 4.2IP from the pen

Friday- 7.2IP from the pen

Thats 26IP from the pen over 5 games, an average of 5.2IP per game. Now, the sox send their greenest kid to the mound to start, a guy who has had trouble getting past 5, and most recently getting to the fifth. It is a mammoth task for both the kid and the pen. I would have to assume that Tito rides him into the ground if it is out of hand early to save the pen.

Lately, Jacko is like the close-talker who has really bad B.O. He enters otherwise interesting threads and makes me want to just back away and not say anything. He's the restaurant patron with explosive gas. The woman with too much perfume... he just doesn't know when he's done enough.

Look Jacko, we don't need you to rub it in. Your enormously inflated Yankees-ego is obviously overflowing with Yankee pride right now. Get over yourself gipper. You have won zero games for your team lately and your confidence in them has had no impact on their victories. None.

While Red Sox nation prepares the rafters to hang the noose, you pour water on the remaining smoldering coals of the 2009 season. Your comments are actively pouring salt into an open wound and it hurts; it makes you look like a pretty bad doctor.

Primum non nocere *******. Primum non nocere.

No seriously, we're sick of you and your ********.

You better pray this team doesn't wake the f*** up and overtakes first.

Sick of me. And using the WE is awesome. See, I am not like Gom who will just come out and say something completely inflammatory. But I do like the little needles here or there, especially when stats back them up.

No seriously.

By WE i mean a lot of people.

A thread is going fine, and as soon as you post i feel like turning off the computer.

Example1 is unusually pissy today.

Yours is just inflamatory ********. If you don't recognize that now is a trying time for Sox fans then you're dense (and you're not dense). Therefore, rubbing it in becomes unnecessary. We come to THIS board because we take our team very seriously. We don't come here to listen to Yankee-loving bitches suddenly get cocky when their team starts playing well.

If you want us to believe you're not like Gom then don't act like a haughty bitch who laughs when things go your way. Win gracefully like the better members of your team do, and understand that much of our commentary here is actually emotional processing at a tough time for serious Red Sox fans. It's an easy time to burn bridges or earn points. Make your choice.

Just don't expect anyone to come to your defense--even if it is only in the form of laying off you--when s*** doesn't go your way. Of course, this isn't a site devoted to your team, so I expect that you will just conveniently disappear when s*** doesn't go the way you want.

I don't know which I find potentially more depressing...Clay/the offense possibly having a bad night and us losing again, or having to watch the game on FOX. ;)

I actually don't mind that Buchholz gets the start. I'm of the camp who believes he will be a good pitcher, an excellent pitcher, and that he will need to be able to make good starts like this one if he's going to get there.

Also, there really isn't a lot of pressure here. I mean, yeah, big stage, Yankee stadium, national TV, etc., but who expects the Sox to win today? Who even expects Buchholz to go 5?

Aceves, Bruney, and Coke are unavailable today. The Yankees really need a solid seven innings from Sabathia, and then they can go right to Hughes and Bruney. The funny thing about yesterday's game is that (due to some strange managing from Girardi) Hughes only pitched 1/3 of an inning in a 15 inning game. So he is in good shape to pitch today.

Obviously Sabathia vs. Bucholz favors the Yankees, but last night proved that anything can happen in these games. If the Yankees want to win this series, they really need this game, because tomorrow is going to be much tougher.

I'm rooting for Clay...I know he can pitch well. He just hasn't yet given me Beckett-like confidence. They must learn somehow...but doesn't mean I don't have a lot of doubts in the meantime. I would definitely like to see him have the game of his life, tho...and not just because I'd like the team to win.

Last night we threw arguably our best pitcher out there too. So it doesnt prove that anything can happen. It proves that good pitching can shut down good hitting on both sides.

You arent my patient' date=' so the salt will continue to be poured.[/quote']And this is why I never let up on Yankee fans when we are on top... never. Those of you who thought if you treated them with respect and acted civilized that the same consideration would be returned by Yankee fans when the Yanks were on top were sadly mistaken. I've lived with these people all of my life. I understand them, so I never give them any slack.

P.S. a bit less than 2 hours until the game. Not enough time for any big projects, and I don't have any little things that need doing right now. *scratches ass in a non-feminine way* *bored*

When I said anything can happen, I meant a scoreless game through 14 innings, not the end result.

I hardly ever "disappear". Lately, my time off seems to correlate with the yankees winning, which is nice. Granted, I am still working 60+ hours a week and will miss every game this weekend, but whatever.

and how much slack has been given our way. Cmon now, last yr the piling on was incredible and well deserved. It is a give and take, and those who are gonna crawl into a ball and cry foul when your team isnt going well are wimps. I take my lumps when they are needed. Hell, I posted the day after the sox comeback in 2004 (not this forum, but ask Crunchy) and I was here the day the sox won it in 2007 to congratulate you guys. So stop playing the victims here. This rivalry will have both parties eating crow for the forseeable future, might as well let it continue as it has for decades.

...or continued failure from putting him in situations that are well beyond his development and experience will destroy his psyche and confidence which might cause him to make rash adjustments to his game that will hurt his performance and development? This kid is not being handled properly. He should have been put in the bullpen early last year before his season was a total bust. He would have learned his trade in the pen. They are repeating last year's mistake.

I agree with only one caveat. There are Yankee fans who don't actively seek out Sox fans for the purposes of gloating when they are on top. Fortunately, with this being a site dedicated to the Red Sox, to some degree, every Yankee fan who enters here is seeking out Sox fans, and all are fair game (here).
