Tito can be a player's manager.

He simply needs to stop being a f***ing idiot regarding in-game decisions.

Let's just get Tony La Russa. I don't give a f*** if he isn't available. I've just had enough of Tito. The only thing he is good at is bending over and taking it up the ass from superstars. (ok, maybe a little extreme).

Let Penny first worry about the guy in the batters box. He has enough trouble with that as it is.

Penny and Tek gave up like 5 SB to Crawford alone last time.

There's a very simple way to prevent that... don't let him get on base in the first place. The FIRST mistake Penny made was letting Crawford get on base so many damned times that game. Again, FIRST you focus on the batter. No baseruners = no worries.

One thing I would like to add. We all know Tek has no arm but Penny is a very easy pitcher to steal on. So combining the two you are basically giving them a free base whenever they feel like taking it.

???? Is that statement somehow wrong? Yes, it's obvious, but that's the first problem. Penny is ALWAYS in a jam. He just puts way to many people on base (1.49 WHIP).

The fact of the matter is that the only way he's going to succeed is if he manages to limit baserunners. If he keeps putting Crawford and Upton on, then he's going to be in a world of hurt. He can't control them, Crawford can run on anyone, let alone Penny.

Alright, I'm tired, I'm going t bed.

You answered your own question, man.

I f***ing hate the media. I want to see a Belichick type manager in baseball. You know' date=' no BS, strict, smart, no concern for the media, etc. No more of this soft "player manager" ********.[/quote']

I'd love it.

We could really be looking at a 1-5 trip.

You're an idiot. The most pessimistic fan I have ever seen.

Tito lost me when in game 3 of the 04 pennant when Curtis Leskanic was brought in when we still had a pop, he also had pivotal innings in game 4 as well. just think if Leskanic pitched true to form and we got swept then we wouldnt be discussing this guy as a manager, hed be a bench coach in Milwaukee or somewhere in AAA ball..I guess the bitching about pitching to Longoria has been stated already.

f***ing Garza just owns our ass, good thing he kept Veritek in there to hit late in the game with 3-4 bats sitting on the bench..The Belichek approach doesnt work over a 162 game season my friends, when the last player on the bench makes more than the Manager its very easy to lose 25 guys quickly with the hard assed approach...These are baseball players not football players. Bball players need to be hugged appreciated and rubbed down and loved while football players need red meat, titty bars and a reason not to kill their grandmothers on game day.Different mentality altogether,a 1 game loss in the NFL is a 10 game loss in the MLB standings, waaaaaaaay too much pressure game to game in the NFL than in MLB and the preparation for each game is just far too different, if a baseball manager approached each game like an NFL coach he'd be hospitalized before September

It's one thing for veteran members to be disrespectful to other veteran members. It is unseemly for newbies to be so. Back off Jacko. He deserves your respect. OK?

Check the talksox rulebook if in doubt.

Have to disagree with you on this one bro. Yankee fans are open game to anyone at anytime!

Francona: Walking Longoria not preferred option

Posted by Tony Massarotti, Globe Staff August 5, 2009 12:45 AM

If you're wondering why the Red Sox didn't walk Evan Longoria in the 13th inning of an eventual 4-2 loss tonight, manager Terry Francona indicated that he felt the club also would have had to walk Ben Zobrist to make the decision worthwhile.

Speaking after Longoria hit a two-run homer off Takashi Saito to give the Rays a much-needed win, Francona said that walking Longoria and Zobrist would have left Saito facing Joe Dillon with the bases loaded. That scenario introduced the possibility of a game-ending walk, something the Red Sox did not want to risk given some of Saito's issues this season.

Though the Sox did walk Longoria in the ninth, that was a slightly different situation. The Rays had a man at second with one (not two), and the walk opened up the possibility of a double play. Zobrist subsequently obliged with a bouncer up the middle that Nick Green fielded while touching second base with his right foot before throwing to first.

"If you're going to go all the way to the bases loaded, you're looking at a guy with 40 pitches,'' Francona said of Saito. "I wish the ball wouldn't have gone out, but I don't think [walking Longoria] was the right thing to do."

Though Clay Buchholz was warming as the emergency reliever, Francona said the Sox had not planned to bring Buchholz into the game until the start of the 14th inning so that the pitcher, who is scheduled to start on Saturday, had sufficient time to get ready

That game sucked. Hate when we don't hit for whatever reason. Hate the dome. Hate extra innings. My old ass didn't last past the 10th. Hate being old and having to get up at 5:30am. Hate when we lose when Lester or Beckett starts. Hate when we lose. Hate trolling NYY fans rubbing salt into the wound during the game. f*** them. Not feeling great about our next 5 games, come on Sox, make me feel great/good about the next 5 games.

Hope Penny manages to pull out a Win tonight and we start hitting. GO SOX.

Have you seen the season he's having?

Zobrist vs RHP this season: 0.273, .394, .527, .921

Longoria vs RPH this season: .281, .367, .536, .903

Don't see that much of a difference. Again, I'd take my chances with Zobrist.
