Saving the bullpen some innings, giving him some confidence to keep it to one bad inning, those are both good things that can come from sending him back out.

He's at 57 pitches. There's reason to believe he can pitch another 2 or 3 innings. I'm willing to bet that Tito agrees with me.
One of Tito's weaknesses is that he sticks too long with the starters.

Clay picked a good day to not have a good inning.

The bats are hot against the birds today. Nice.

This Josh guy? He's all right, man, he's all right.

I may grant you that, but I think this would be a case of deliberatly sticking with someone rather than a Grady Little stupidity decision. If Buchholz battles through and is able to right the ship then it could be an important moment in his development.

You certainly acknowledge that young players need to take their lumps and bounce back, right? If they had an obvious long-relief choice I'd be right there with you, but right now Clay's ability to eat innings is very important.

I still like Mikey Lowell and think he is very valuable to the team. This kid Reddick does have a nice swing. He must be floating on air.

Lowell's offensive skills have never come into question.

His mobility and how much more pain he's gonna be able to endure are the questions at hand.

Sox are keeping the line moving and getting big hits

He'll give him the opportunity to get the win. I don't agree with that mentality. Team wins, not individual wins are important. I think youngsters need to learn to weather adversity, but I don't think there is anything to be gained from letting him take a beating. I might give him one more inning to give him the opportunity to exit on a positive note, but sending him out beyond that is just asking for trouble.

Sox are hitting just about everything hard

And that was about as soft a 2 run single as you'll ever see by VMart
