Chris Duncan and/or Josh Reddick could probably do as good as any 5th OF that was/is available IMO.
Chris Duncan is not an OFer. Now that Bay may be injured too, we unfortunately may get the chance to see him ply his trade in the OF.

If your desire is accuracy' date=' can we drop the mild tone of "tend to favor" and characterize it correctly? There is no "tend to favor" with you. Despite your professed enthusiasm, I can recall no situation where you preferred the prospect as an option. Your preference rate is 100%. This isn't "tending", it's doctrine. So, f*** off with your doctrine. What it adds to the discourse is already assumed by all familiar with your "tending".[/quote']As usual, when you make up your mind, you are totally inflexible. You are a knowledgeable poster and you add a lot of interesting content to this forum when you are here. Maybe you are just not here enough so you are not up on things. Just recently, one of the posters reminded me that I was calling Lowrie "Minny Manny" last season. I was on record in the Spring and the Offseason stating my high opinion of Lowrie's hitting and that if Lugo sputtered Lowrie would make the job his. He is still a rookie isn't he. I'm not going to list other examples, because I am not gonna waste my time when you are just clearly acting the ass today.

Dunn should be a DH' date=' and quite frankly, I think ours is better. Prior to his injury last year he was better, and since recovering from the slump he was in to start the year, he's been better. So, since he'd have to take the field, I don't get the appeal of a Dunn-type player. It's not like we are talking about a complete hitter, like Manny was. Dunn's a TTO hitter with horrible defense. Too many negatives for his lone positive, IMO.[/quote']

Over the years - David Ortiz has made immense contributions for the RSN. But at this stage of their careers - I will take Dunn over Ortiz in a heart-bit - it is not even close IMO - specially considering the roid baggage Ortiz will be carrying going forward.

One of the position we have a real need is short-stop - but again it will be hard to improve on it this year.

Taking out Reddick from AA' date=' where he's developing and getting regular ABs and rush him to the majors to be a 5th OF? Oh sure, go for it.[/quote']

The way Reddick started in ML - you might have to eat some crows if he can maintain it.

The fact that diony attacks the decision to bring up Reddick practically guarantess he'll be starting next year at the AS game.

Bay only had a cramp, but if you're really spazzing about it just play Baldelli in RF and Reddick in LF tomorrow.

Gives Bay two days off.

LF @ Fenway:

I could play it.

I'd love to see that.

You'd pull a Manny, of sorts. Ducking into the wall for swigs of Presitente!:D

And i'd still either catch the ball or play it off the monster.

Oh, and i'm gonna have a couple tomorrow.

Haven't had a sip of the Nectar of the Gods for a couple of days now.

What the f***?

Damn you, Spudboy.

I need to go get a Presidente right now, lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but along with an OF for the bench and SP, didn't you say SS needed to be addressed this trade deadline? Maybe it's just me, but that suggests you aren't content with him at the position. Please let me know if I've misinterpretted your complaint there.

I'm only responding in kind, or did you not tell me to "f*** off" first?

I gave Theo an A-. He did a lot of things right: he didn't over-react to a poorly timed slump, he didn't trade away his very best prospects and he got a legit middle of the order bat who plays well for their strengths.

Furthermore, we learn that Theo was pushing more aggressively on big splashes like Adrian Gonzalez and Felix Hernandez, guys who it truly would make sense to give up a talent like Buchholz for. The whole world was clamoring for him to give up 5 years of Buchholz and whatever else Toronto wanted for a year or two of Halladay, and the FO kept its eyes on the prize and still managed to upgrade with Victor Martinez. They have a lot of very desirable young players so this year's trade deadline could become more and more typical of deadlines in the years to come. The Sox have a true advantage being able to acquire so many hard to sign or international FA players.

Wrong again my know-it-all friend. Yes I would have liked the Sox to address SS, but not because I doubt Lowrie's ability. I would have liked to get O'Cab or someone like that because Nick "Joe Hardy" Green's deal with the devils has expired and he is back to suck land. He did a great job up until now, but I am not comfortable with him as the only middle IF to back up the other guys. My concern about Lowrie is his health. He did have surgery on his wrist you know. What is the contingency plan if Lowrie can't get back to full form until next season? That's why I wanted a SS, but of course you have your own preconceived notion of what I think. You always know what I mean more than I know myself. Maybe You should explore a career as a psychic.

I did tell you to f*** off, but only after you threw around the word pathological. I guess you don't you see that as an abrasive word. Thank goodness you did not have any diplomacy responsibilities in the military.

If you call me feisty' date=' I swear that I'll come to the DR and knock you around.[/quote']

I'm probably twice the size and weight you are at half the age.

I doubt you can knock me around. :D

Threaten with a firearm, though, and feisty shall be erased from my vocabulary.

I'll give him a B because he got VMart without giving up much. But he didn't get the no.3 starter they need. Lee was the guy they need, and he missed the boat. Buchholz is getting shelled again today.

Lee just threw a CG win.

I gave him a B originally. It may go up/down depending on Buchholz. If Buccholz doesn't turn it around soon, Theo basically wasted an important spot in the rotation. We need another dependable pitcher, we can't just rely on Beckett and Lester to win out. V-Mart is looking like an awesome addition right now. As I've said all along, though, we need pitching. That will be what will make/break Theo's trade grade.
