Drew finally gets locked in last night' date=' and tonight he is riding the bench. Idiot move.[/quote']

A's are throwing a lefty.

When he is locked in he can hit anyone. If Tito wants to get Rocco in the lineup' date=' he should sit the slumping Bay.[/quote']

You know he rarely starts against a left handed pitcher. Bitching about it won't change that. But then again, you wouldn't be happy unless you were bitching about something. ;)

Yet, these guys get so locked into certain rotations and moves that they don't seem to have any flexibility to adapt to circumstances. I realize that Baldelli is good against lefties and Tito wants to play him about twice a week. I also realize that Drew frequently sits against lefties, but he looked really locked in last night even against the lefty, so why not ride the wave, and sit the guy who is slumping. Instead, he'll sit Drew a night and maybe get a little rust on him.

LaRoche didn't start yesterday and Ortiz has a family matter.

Oh.

Is that why LaRoche pinch hit for Papi last night?

I agree Drew should be in the lineup, if hes in the midst of getting hot then he should be in the lineup even if it's a lefty , when hes hot he can carry our team like last year. I'm fine with rocco in the lineup but maybe Bay does need to sit a day or even Lowell even though hes hitting latley and doesnt have to play the field it might be time to phase him out

I'm not sure I can watch. Still recovering from last nights loss, especially since I had to listen to CSN's A's fanboi announcers during that 9th inning. They're generally not too bad, but they were whooping and hollering it up for that part. Argh.

And yet, I cannot not watch, either.

Win, damnit.

It's a nauseating dilemna.

Ortiz: 'That's my baby girl'

Posted by Julian Benbow, Globe Staff July 29, 2009 05:17 PM

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, who left last night's game in the seventh inning upon learning that his youngest daughter had fallen ill, said today that she was fine.

Partly joking that she "ate too much," Ortiz said his 8-year-old daughter Alexandra came down with a stomach sickness that required being hospitalized. But he said she was back home recovering before the night was out.

"That's my baby girl right there," he said. “We went back to the house late-night last night. We were watching the game on TV. Kind of crazy."

Red Sox manager Terry Francona also expressed his relief, saying, "That's good news for us. There was some concern there last night. She's OK."

Ortiz is out of the lineup tonight with a scheduled off-day.

Drew is 0-3 with 3K's vs Anderson. No thanks.

Thank you...but that doesn't matter, Tito is just an idiot. <_ hello src="//d1mqtyoopj0gsc.cloudfront.net/emoticons/default_biggrin.png" alt=":D">

good to know that Lil Papita is all right, I dont have too big a problem with Rocco hitting the lefty, I dont think it will hurt Drew's resurgance, in fact of all the slumps drews is the one im least worried about i think he just altered his aproach at the plate too much from the leadoff spot and should be getting back in the groove now that he is back in his normal place in the lineup...

We only got two hits that game against Anderson. Not a great reason to sit him.

True, but combined with Drew's struggles vs LHP, Rocco's success vs LHP and Drew probly benefiting from a day off now and then it makes sense to sit him tonight.

We really need to hit this Anderson kid we can't have him dominate us again like last t time

This would be a good time for Penny to make it through 7 for the first time
