Nah, I don't want Dye. He is essentially the same thing as Bay, except 5 years older. Keep Bay, sign him to a reasonable deal, or pick up Holliday in the offseason.

If the Sox go for another trade, I want to see a big bat (to fill a hole, Bay isn't a hole) or pitcher.

HA HA HA !!! We are ecstatic that useless piece of sh#$ is out of St. Louis !!!!!

Trust me you'll be wishing Lugo was cut if Dumasss wastes a roster spot . He'll do well in AAA as always, be brought up and given multiple chances because of AAA. Meanwhile he'll single handedly lose games.

Cards fans are the fairest fans in the country and have been booing Duncan for 2 years now.

ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!

Truth is, they got rid of Lugo and his contract. That by itself makes the deal a positive one for the Red Sox.

I like Bay to SF' date=' Holliday to the Sox, and prospects to Oakland myself.[/quote']

I'd LOOOOOOVE THAT. So on this bandwagon.

And you expect that to continue, why?

If it was straight up Bay for Holliday, and we were able to extend his contract, then I'd be fine with it, IF we also made other moves. We have much bigger needs right now (another dominant pitcher, C, RF - I know, who would take Drew, 3B).

I'd be more convinced if he was maybe "Rollercoasting" instead if a steady downfall in production. His career numbers obviously show that he should hit better eventually. But maybe he's just having an off year, who knows? I'm not saying it will be impossible for him to bounce back. But how long should they wait? And how much will it cost the team?

C is what it is for the season. I don't see the Sox getting V-Mart, not with them just getting Laroche. I don't believe any other Catcher of consequence is available. unless The Twins want Buchholz really badly.

RF? C'mon. Drew is here for at least the season. And probably the better part if not all of his contract. They may get a RF, but Drew will be going to LF. The Sox would have to take on some money or send money with Drew to trade him. ATL and maybe SF could be desperate enough for a Bat. But that's a long shot.

3B has been taken care of it would seem. The acquisition of Laroche takes care of it. With Laroche playing 1B and Youk playing 3B.

A dominant pitcher is always a possibility. I will give you that.

Outside of that your looking at SS and LF as the only viable spots to improve the offense with an everyday player.

Are we collecting big lumbering left hand batting doofuses?

Yes... In exchange for Lugo?

7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

This is just another depth move and I like it. I think they want to avoid another 2006 where they got killed with injuries in the second half towards the end.

Unlike a few days ago, if Lowell and Papi continue to have issues or get worse, now there are warm bodies with mid 20ish power numbers to back them up in the lineup and on the infield corners.

And like everyone's saying, I'm surprised anyone picked lugo up, so I assume the sox will be on the hook for Lugy though next season like the Renteria deal.

I dunno, Kilo, I don't think you made it big enough.

Bay is only traded if we can use it to secure our position at LF beyond this year AND Bay won't sign.

Seriously, $13M for a left handed hitting first baseman, converted to a left fielder, who was booed out of St. Louis! St. Louis, the town where Tony LaRussa doesn't even get booed. I think Theo has done a great job on building the Sox over the last few years, but Chris Duncan, please, his picture is posted under the definition of suck in Websters. This guy couldn't find his way around a one stall bathroom let alone the outfield. If you really are enamored with this guy, how about Lester straight up for his brother Shelley. Talent runs in the family.

Fine I will.

You fail to grasp the Red Sox were going to be on the hook for Lugo's salary regardless. If they got back a single A back up Catcher, it would still be a win.

So enlighten us, Isaac Newton.

What else could the Sox have acquired for the island of awesome that is Julio Lugo?

I have a feeling LaRoche is it for the offense.

Have you seen Chris Duncan's 2006 stats, when he was healthy?
