Mark DeRosa to St. Louis for Chris Perez and another MiLBer.

I think this is a pretty good deal for both teams. The Cardinals are making a playoff push and needed some more offense (especially from 3B ). Cleveland is going to sell this year, and I really like Perez as a potential future closer and I think he can tone down the walks enough.

Was just about to post this.

LOVE this deal for St. Louis. DeRosa is going to help them tremendously.

Perez is a nice pickup by Cleveland too as they desperately need bullpen help and he could be really good.

Eh, I'd give the edge to DeRosa. He's had an OPS+ over 100 the last 3 seasons. Going on 4 this year. Can't say the same for Teahen. Though going forward because of his age, Teahen is more valuable. They're both excellent utility players, though.

Anyways, this really sticks it to the Cubs and Hendry. I hope DeRosa puts the Cards over the top, the Cubs don't win the division, and Hendry gets fired as a result. I despise Hendry about as much as Gom despises Cashman.

Like I said before' date=' some teams look at him as a cleanup hitter. StL has him protecting Pujols today[/quote']

The Cards offense has really been horrible. Ludwick, they're only power threat other than Pujols is hitting .225/.299/.419. I think they're gonna need to add more than DeRosa to have a competitive offense.

I will never understand why Albert Pujols gets a single good pitch to hit. EVER. That St. Louis lineup is consistent garbage. I would walk him. Every. Single. Time.

I'm actually confused as to why DeRosa has been considered as such a great option, yet Teahen has not...

Mark DeRosa: 34 years old, right-handed, makes $5.5M, free agent after this year...

Mark Teahen: 27 years old, left-handed, makes $3.5M, free agent after 2011...

The only clear difference is RBI. You can blame that on the Royals crappy "offense"...

Good stat post, very similar numbers for the most part.

Could be teams are looking for pop from 3B and DeRosa offers a bit more of that, still not a huge difference. Looks like Teahen was shaky last year, .313 OBP vs. Derosa's .376.

Teahen might offer some team a pretty decent stop gap so I too don't get why his name isn't bantied about more.

yea, I would expect Derosa's numbers to improve as he heads back to the division where be put up a .289 BA, .374 OBP, .824 OPS over two seasons
