Met fans @ Fenway

Hi all, I'm a Met fan and will be in town on May 23 to see them play the Sox. My question is, are all NY fans hated @ Fenway, or just Yankee fans? Can I wear Met attire to the game without being harrased in and around the stadium? There will be 3 of us, and by no means are we loud, obnoxious, etc.

You'll be fine - the real animosity is saved for the Yankee fans.

You should be fine. Opposing fans usually get s***, but it won't compare to what a Yankee fan would get.

I specifically remember in 2006 when the Mets came to town that there was a trade off of "Let's go Red Sox" and "Let's go Mets" chants. It was pretty funny when both of those chants just became one gigantic "Yankees suck!" chant.

As I recall, the Sox lost that series. The Mets did not "beat" the Sox. The Mets are second fiddle in New York. As such, they can be considered an opponent of the Yankees. As a New York team, they are subject to the scorn and wrath of Boston fans. They are big market and compete with the Sox for talent. Despite this, they are usually laughable. Against my better judgment, I sometimes root for their success as it flies in the face of the Yankee's efforts.

Although I don't hate the Mets in general, I do hate all the members of the 1986 Mets. But a generic Mets fan at Fenway shouldn't have any problem. Hell, Yankee fans don't usually have any problem as long as everyone stays sober.

The only thing you have to worry about is if the mets win or lose. Have a good time! I have attended many sox games since 1962 as i lived near the mass/nh border for a long time, and i have never seen any bad behavior vs visiting teams fans. It is sometimes a bit rowdy at yankee games though.
