Rays announcers complaining about that called strike. Exactly same location Jed got called out on, but that was a "brilliant" pitch.

Am I the only one who thinks MDC is better than Masterson?

Much? Probably. You could argue in favor of either, IMO. However, Masterson is the guy you go to against RH hitters, so that was the right call.

I feel like I can breathe again. Great first game, glad I missed the pregame, Remy wasn't too annoying. I liked it all, from the intro to the whole NESN/Fenway look. I love the new Tek swing too - not that it will work, mind you - mostly because it looks cool. What lefty tries to pull the ball at fenway??? Probably nobody, but it may help on the road.

 

It looks like someone else's swing too but I can't figure out who it is. But it looks more natural to Tek (or a lefty I guess) than his old swing did. It is noticably different.

 

The depth on this team (as of today...) amazes me. I've never seen/had pitching like this on any Sox team I've ever seen before. The fact that they could trade one of their pitchers at the deadline and get something massive in return has me feeling good. Probably never happen, but if they trade Smoltz back to Atlanta for something I'd laugh my ass off, because it wouldn't surprise me in the least and would confuse the hell out of every braves fan I know.

 

I'm not even worried about the lineup or the economy right now! Life is good. AL East baseball is back! And tomorrow I get to watch it in HD but on ESPN. Things could be a lot worse!

 

oh yeah, beckett looked awesome. CC sux. :D

Didn't get to see this game was working. But I saw the highlights when I got home Beckett looked amazing he dominated the Tampa hitters. Hopefully were gonna see more of this 2007 looking Josh Beckett this year. And Pedroia continued to show why he's the MVP.

Got to watch it on Tivo after work. Not like we can expect this kind of a Beckett every time out, but it sure is encouraging given his struggles last year. He just looked different out there today, throwing harder, looking stronger on the mound. Love getting off to a 1-0 start. Great job all around.

That was something I really missed last year, that overpowering and dominant performance that you can usually count on from Beckett. It's only one outing, but it's certainly a great start.

What a game to be at!! Becket just flat out dealt. Pedroia didnt waste any time, 2nd pitch and he deposits it into the monster seats. Great to see Tek get a power swing in there

 

Watch out for JD if he can take the ball to left field more
